2024-11-29 05:05:33 +0000 UTCSo much to say about this episode. Spike’s introduction. One episode and we already have a whole lot of his personality. The parallels between him and Buffy, both unconventional in their respective roles (small detail noticeable only on repeat viewing, they both have a red streak on their cheek, blood for Spike and paint for Buffy). As you said the song played at Bronze while Spike is stalking Buffy literally predict what will happen in the rest of the episode. The dialogue is always fantastic on this show but in this episode in particular they go to the next level with the script, especially with innuendos. Everything is significant, even the items that Xander extracts from Buffy’s purse when he is looking for a stake. I could talk for hours about this episode.

2024-11-18 16:45:21 +0000 UTCFrom my understanding they didn’t want Buffy to kill a child since she’s the hero. And personally I LOVE that Spike did it. Such an amazing moment. All while Dru watches. The show really becomes what everyone raves about from here on. There are still some less than great episodes but overall the fandom agrees that Spikes introduction is what shifts the show. Plus he’s really hot 😂
