Discussing Tariffs, TSMC-Intel Ventures, AMD, Nvidia w/ Hoeg Law (Guest Telegrams)
Added 2025-04-12 01:27:12 +0000 UTCThe next episode of Broken Silicon will see us be joined by Hoeg Law once again! Richard is a Business Lawyer, and therefore is more than happy to answer any and all questions having to do with Tariffs! However, he is also an avid gamer and has a lot to say about anything involving the consoles or semiconductors - so feel free to ask him anything! Might I remind you all that this is a rare opportunity to ask some very unique questions...so don't miss this opportunity! At a minimum though, we plan to discuss:
Tariffs - which products will be most affected, and the legality of how they were instituted.
How easy tariffs will be to get around.
How realistic a joint venture between Intel and TSMC, is.

Hi, How does the law typically decide what the value of a product is while calculating Tariffs. Production, distribution, retail, and profit all are pieces of the pie and how much of the pie will be taxed maters.

From a legal standpoint, I wanted your opinion on Nvidia’s approach to the 12VHPWR connector, as it is clearly a fire hazard, which multiple 40 and 50 series customers have come forward to show; Derbaur, Gamers Nexus, Jayztwocents and multiple other YouTubers have made great videos to showcase the issue. My first question would be how there hasn’t there been a lawsuit against Nvidia regarding the connector due to the cable burning, especially regarding the 5090 and RTX 6000 Pro which can easily pull over the 575w and 600w respectively with a connector rated for 600w. My second question is, why there isn’t strong mandates on technology and cables? A cable such as the 12VHPWR shouldn’t have been allowed to continue being made with the way it was designed since the 40 series.
