You've gotta remember that AMD has THREE generations of previous gen Zen products to compete with in addition to Intel. Every new generation - the initial launch is likely to have more and more holes in it. I remember Intel eventually only launching with one i7 and one i5 by Haswell (because they had multiple generations of decent chips on the market). The reason Zen 1 had an almost complete lineup quickly is it was so much better than Piledriver that it wasn't a consideration. Even then they still used those Excavator APUs for their entry level offerings for a while. It just makes no sense to launch a 5700X when there are 3800X's on Amazon for $320 right now. Clear that stock first.

2020-10-14 16:52:49 +0000 UTCI think the big issue with pricing that has caused the outrage is the lack of non-X parts (which I think isn’t an issue, people who want/need now will buy, and the rest will buy when those launch). And also how poorly the 5800X feels priced. At $450 it really looks like a part AMD does not want to sell, and to many I think it has made them feel $550 is the “value entry point”. I think the price is fine, assuming that non-X parts are coming 50-75 dollars cheaper in the next 3-6 months.
