Hope the views pick up. BSG got pulled from Peacock here in the US so I can't watch it without spending money or unearthing ye olde Blurays. Going from memory on the full reactions is tough on the aging chunk of meat I call my brain. The show never gets preachy because it stays pretty surface level, just a few levels above how it is treated in most fantasy settings. The human religion and how Cylon's contextualize religion is very important. They try for some big concepts and whether or not they land is based on the viewer. I am also an atheist and I just liked looking at it from the pov of religion in our word and the things that spring from it. An existential crisis sort of like Roy Batty in Bladerunner. When faced with the reality that you are alive but your creators reject you, what even defines your existence without them.

2023-10-12 03:46:31 +0000 UTC“All this has happened before, all this will happen again” Definitely a true line, and one to keep in mind while continuing watching. As far as the religious aspect, the show never actually proselytizes any beliefs to the audience. It’s best to view it from a more meta philosophical aspect of differences in opinions on the experience of being alive. I enjoyed it as an obnoxious edgy Atheist teenager, so I’m definitely sure I’ll enjoy it more now as a more mellowed and nuanced yet still atheist 31 year old.
