But instead of going hard on the Americas and Australasia, they instead put most or all of their resources into what would be South Africa and beyond. The concept of Paradis being a prison colony for a specific race/caste is actually an echo of Germany's plans in the late 1800's and early to mid 1900's to turn Madagascar into a penal colony for "undesirables" (such as the Jewish peoples) while European powers took over the African mainland
