Yeah, the pacing for Naruto is bad but it does get better. Just going to take a while. Also I agree about the female characters, from what I’ve heard the creator stated he didn’t know how to write females. So I guess for the question of what do girls care about he thought “boys”.

It's just that certain sections of the anime are more of a lull than others when doing one episode at a time, like this forest part and the Haku fight
