WIP Animation: Talita Bends the I-Beam

That makes sense! I didn’t even think about that. It’s something I’ve also noticed in the development of another animation I’m keeping an eye on (Lackadaisy Cats), but it didn’t occur to me that it likely feels that way because my eyes are looking for details that aren’t actually there (since every step of the animation is hand-drawn and after a certain point it gets cost/time-prohibitive unless you have, like, a team of animators and a production studio). 😅

I'm not sure about how it's running on your comp, but it's only 14 seconds, so it's a pretty fast scene. Making things slower in animation is harder because it means you have to draw more frames to keep it smooth :')

I love everything about this video! Gotta ask, though: is it running at like 1.5x speed? I keep having to grab the little progress bar and slow it to a manual slide to catch the details.

Each time I see more of Talita's Trunk spoke it just starts to make more sense, and become even cooler

Well, she may have stripped the nut. Neither of them have checked yet... 😅 It is kind of funny that Shyam asked for her help because the hydraulic arm would be too powerful, but it turns out that Talita is basically just as strong as it.

The vocal system is an offshoot. There are a pair of large sinuses on the back of her head that she can also inhale into, which bellow the trunk. Centaurs have a higher voice register than you'd think for a creature so large, because their entire vocal apparatus is contained within their head.

I am curious as to the method of Talita's vocal production, with one way airflow. Is there some diversion air on exhalation, or does she speak on the inhale, or even a sound production air bladder, like bagpipes..?

Everything about this is the best, and I am hopelessly in love both of them! All the subtle body language you include is so well done, and I freely admit to watching at least a couple dozen times, some of those frame by frame, to catch everything. I love that we can see the moment Shyam's brain goes "Brrrrrr, pretty lady strong!", and the realization of her feels when she hesitates in responding to Talita. Sidenote: With as much force as she exerted on the wrench, I would be greatly surprised if the wheel bolt didn't simply shear off (assuming a bolt+lugnut arrangement for the wheel hub).

I’ve said this before but WOW this is such an excellent animation. Absolutely love the flex in her muscles and the sudden movement with the exhale and the push. The trunk speaking is so damn weird but in a cool way that really reminded me she’s an alien after all. And all the little details like her feathers raising as she tenses, and Shyam’s tail curling in surprise ahhh so good 👌👌👌

I am unreasonably pleased that someone noticed I animated her swallowing, lmao. Shyam doesn't do big facial expressions so it's the little things with her.

Yeah those are her excurrent nostrils! Air goes through her one way. You can see her inhale through the incurrent nostrils on her face in the first shot, hold her breath, and then the shot of her flank shows her releasing it.

This is so SMOOTH and well done. Just discovered Talita's torso nostrils(?) and wow, yeah, this looks FANTASTIC in motion. Way more oomph. It's a challenge to illustrate this kind of physicality in comics.
