You didn't say what kind of shooting, skeet or target. Skeet is challenging but the loads (shot size) in the shells are light, when hunting with bigger shell shot you have heavier loads that require more powder resulting in more kick. There is still a substantial kick with skeet loads and if your not holding the gun tight into the shoulder it will impact the hit making it worse.
