The Vampire Queen - How I Became The Worlds Last Boss: Chapter 7

Celestia

Both Rhea and I stood up, facing each other. I pulled her into a hug, preparing to clamp my teeth down on her exposed neck. As my mouth got closer, I felt Rhea’s whole body tense up as she was preparing herself. My mouth opens wide with my blade-like fangs exposed as I pierce them into Rhea's milky white skin. Blood starts to gush into my mouth as if a dam just exploded.

This was my first time experiencing the flavor of blood, and I have to say it tastes pretty damn good. I wonder if all blood tastes this amazing or if it’s just because it’s Rhea and I have special feelings towards her. Rhea’s arms clench tightly around my body as I continue to suck on her neck, while my venom within my fangs starts invading her body.

Rhea lets out a loud moan as her finger nails start digging into my back. I’m not entirely sure how long I have to do this to turn her, but I'm just going on my internal instincts. That’s when my vision suddenly got blurry, only to be instantly transported somewhere else entirely. What in the world just happened?

I’m currently on the ground, looking up at two men and an older lady about five to six feet behind them, looking on with disappointment written all over her face.

“You stupid girl, how dare you go against us? We've provided everything you've needed for the past twelve years. It’s time for you to do your part for the family and do what we ask of you.” The older man looks on with hate filling his eyes.

"Rhea, that man is rich; if you marry Rodger Brennan, your whole future would be smooth sailing.” The young teenager suggests.

“That’s right, Rhea; just do what we say, so our family can live on. Your life will be fine as long as you listen to your husband and treat him right.”

“But he will kill me.” My body starts to cry profusely, and it was at this moment that I understood what was going on. I’m currently in one of Rhea’s memories, where they had an argument about her future husband.

The older lady in the back, whom I assume to be Rhea’s mother, made her way forward with a stern look. She got down and hugged Rhea gently, who couldn’t stop bawling on the ground as everyone seemed to not care about her well-being.

“Rhea, please do this for your mother, or we could lose everything. It’s up to you to save this family, or we will all be out on the streets. Just imagine if that happens; we might have to start working at a whore house so we can survive. They offer a good amount of money for a young girl.” The mother had a wicked smile on her face as she rubbed her daughter's back.

Wow, that’s so messed up. Rhea was given no choice at all in this. She either marries a guy who has killed her off in two past lives or is sold to a whore house. It’s no wonder she developed such a horrible stutter with this kind of family. Her confidence level must have always been rock bottom.

Rhea stops crying after her mother’s words and looks her straight in the face. “Do you hate me, m-mother?” Her mother was stunned and sat silent for a little while as she looked to be contemplating an acceptable answer.

“What do you mean? Rhea Of course, I don’t hate you, but it’s just the way life works. A daughter’s job is to help her family when she gets older by finding a financially well-off marriage partner. That’s how it worked for me and your father. Our parents brought us together, and we never had a say in the matter. But we just accepted that’s the way it was and tried to live the best we could.” The mother said this as she continued to rub Rhea’s back, trying to console her.

The mother gave a look of acknowledgement to both men in the room, as if implying I got this. It’s pretty obvious she doesn’t actually care about what happens to Rhea and is more worried about losing her own security.

“Just do it for your mother, okay, Rhea? Don’t you want to make your mother happy? You’re always trying to get affection from us. If you go along with this marriage, saving the family, we will all love you very much! So, do this for the family that you love, and do this for yourself to get the affection you've always wanted.”

What a cruel bitch was the only thing running through my mind, while listening to the mother’s last statement.

Rhea just sat there silently, not moving in her mother’s arms, with her hands covering her tear-filled eyes. I have to make sure that she’s always treated well in the future. It’s now my responsibility after turning her into one of my own, and I plan to treat her like a princess. I’m sure she will forget this hypocritical family in no time.

My vision once again starts to fade as I open my eyes, still having Rhea in my arms and biting down on her neck. At the same time, I can feel this strong bond forming between the two of us. It felt so deep, as if our very beings were becoming connected. I wonder if I can view anyone’s memories from a bite or only Rhea's because she’s currently getting turned.

There is sudden feedback on my bite, as if telling me it’s been completed. Rhea’s body goes limp in my arms after I release my fangs. I laid her gently down on the bed and prayed I didn’t do this wrong, possibly killing her. The memory I was shown makes me wonder what kind of significance it implies.

If I could take an educated guess from all the stories I’ve read in the past, that was probably the moment Rhea truly lost faith in her parents and possibly in humankind as a whole. Right now, she’s turning into a vampire, so having a memory like that at this moment could help her vampire transformation. Especially with what she’s been put through—multiple lives of being murdered and treated as nothing more than cattle.

“You think she’s going to be alright, Hieko?” I ask, looking worriedly at Rhea.

‘I think there will be no issues, master; she still seems to be breathing, from what I can tell.’

“That’s another thing; how come I’m a vampire with a heartbeat? Do you have any idea, Hieko?” That has been a mystery to me ever since I awakened.

‘I’m not sure, master; you’re the first vampire I’ve come into contact with.’ Hieko sat down next to me while licking her paw.

Hmm, so is it possible that I’m the first vampire to have ever lived in this world? Wouldn’t that make me vampire royalty, something like a primordial vampire? I have no issues in the sun, and my power seems to be insanely high.

‘Master, something’s wrong!’ Hieko roared.

“Hmm, what’s wrong? Is it with Rhea?” I ask in confusion.

‘Do you not sense it, master?” Hieko leapt to the window, looking out at something. “Shouldn’t there be other students in this residence? From what I understood, you were coming here for living arrangements. But why is there no one inside the building?’

“I have no idea, but now that you mention it, I can’t smell anyone within the building. But there are people around us, as if we are being surrounded.” This could be terrible! What in the world is going on?

'Master, did you do anything that stood out?’

“Umm… possibly…” I said with a sigh, “My magic power was tested, and it was miles ahead of everyone else. I was asked if I was the reincarnation of the hero from one thousand years ago.”

‘If they actually knew anything about the hero, there’s no way they would think you’re similar. He would never be reincarnated as strong as your power is currently.’

“So… You’re saying they probably suspected me to be the enemy right from the very start?”

‘That’s very likely; I’m sure everyone in high positions knows how to spot the master.’ Hieko said with annoyance, ‘There is no greater threat to humankind than someone who wishes to thrive outside their control. I wouldn’t doubt it if they killed off anyone with high magic power just to be safe.’

"Well, that sucks; I was screwed from the very beginning. I had no control over how much power I was letting out into the magic tester.” This new life sure isn’t taking it easy on me.

‘We’re probably going to have to make a run for it. I could easily destroy this school with no issues. But I’m not sure what kind of threat is out there, and it’s too risky to fight without you in control of your power. If you start using your destruction magic right now, it could be a disaster. Without having creation magic to balance yourself out, you could go into a frenzy state.’

“That sounds bad, but Rhea still hasn’t awakened.” Looking down on my sweet Rhea, I need to make sure she stays safe!

‘Master, it would be better to leave in the dark of night. The morning will be much tougher to disappear.’ Hieko said as she kept a keen eye on everything going on outside.

Hieko makes a great point; it’s already the worst-case scenario. But at least without light, it would be easier for us to escape. Right as I was in contemplation about how we’re going to get out of here, a very weird, rhythmic buzzing sound starting at the base of the building and rising up got my full attention. I really have a bad feeling about that sound!

“Hieko, what was that?” I yell.

‘We’ve just been sealed within a field. I should be able to break it, but I would have to transform into my full body.’ Hieko said as she looked at me with flames in her eyes.

“Alright, I will trust you to get us all out of here, Hieko.” I said that with worry about our current predicament.

‘Don’t worry, master, I will get you and your mate out of here in no time. We should leave now before they try to put up multiple barriers or something worse that I can’t get us out of. Get Rhea and wait for me to break the barrier. At that time, jump onto my back, and I will get us out of here and back to the others as fast as I can.’ The nine-tails fox said with confidence.

I watch on as Hieko jumps out the window, followed by a very powerful roar. Grabbing Rhea in a princess carry, I go look to see the show Hieko was about to perform. The nine-tail fox grew to the size of a three-story building. She was currently covered in nine balls of fire; each of her black tips had a fireball hovering over them. She brought all the tails into one and shot off a massive blast straight into the barrier.

The heat coming off Hieko’s attack was so intense. If I didn’t know any better, I would swear it was the surface of the sun. Her massive fireball impacted the barrier with a thunderous sound that boomed all around us. The barrier shattered as if it were a piece of glass that had no resistance at all to Hieko’s powerful attack. Her blast crashed into multiple structures in its way and didn’t stop until it disappeared far off into the distance.

‘Jump now, master; this is our chance.’ She said it in my mind.

Looking down from the fifth-floor window, all I could do was gasp at this situation. On the other hand, this experience is insanely cool and entertaining. I thought it was amazing that such a powerful creature would be so obedient to me. I hold Rhea as tight as I can to my body and take the leap onto Hieko’s back.

As I landed on her very fluffy fur, she shrank down to the size of a huge horse. I put Rhea in front of me, with that being the safer option to make sure she doesn’t fall off. I hug her tightly from behind as I hold firmly onto the fox’s fur.

“Let’s get out of here, Hieko!” With those words, we took off into the night to truly start my new life. Not caring at all about the destruction that was now a school in chaos.
