The Vampire Queen - How I Became The Worlds Last Boss: Chapter 6

Celestia

Since Rhea and I both got into class 1A, we had our rooms very close to each other. Being in the class with the most talent gave us advantages, such as single rooms. We both agreed to just share a single room anyway because it was much more preferable. The room was quite big, with all the furniture you would ever need.

There was a really huge bed with multiple chairs and couches throughout the room. I suppose these rooms are so big for people like Caroline, who can have their maids live in close proximity. The fact she brought two maids with her must mean she has a single room. Her being powerful is a surprise, but I doubt it’s anything too special. Also, why in the hell am I thinking about her? I’m currently cuddling with Rhea on a couch, both giving each other the much-needed affection we’ve always wanted.

Her family was a carbon copy of my own in how they treated their youngest daughter. She was taught from a young age to always do what she was told and never talk back to her parents. Being out of line in any way meant a stern beating was in order. Rhea having to deal with these types of family members from an early age caused her idea of right and wrong to warp.

She only has one older brother, the one I saw earlier, and he treats her as if she were only a piece of jewelry. Rhea was something to pass around to make the family wealthier—nothing more and nothing less. If she chooses not to give herself to that merchant this weekend, the chances of the Caldworth family falling are almost guaranteed. That path only leads to her end after already experiencing it in a past life.

I really need to learn how to use my magic. The power flowing through my body feels so strong and enticing that I just want to wield it. But I’ve been holding off on trying it so far because I don't really know how. With a possible confrontation this weekend, hopefully class will teach me something useful.

Looking in the direction of the sound, I see a silver fox with black tips on its ears and tails. Yes, that’s right tails; it had nine of them. That’s really amazing—a real nine-tailed fox right in front of me. Its eyes were pleading with me to open the window and let it inside. Hmm, but this could be dangerous. I look over at Rhea, who has an amazed look, probably wondering how a little fox got five stories into the air. Well, I doubt it means any danger with its actions. If it truly wants to kill us, it would probably decide to ambush or use some other method besides revealing itself so openly.

“I guess I will see what it wants and go from there.” I said it with a bit of worry, but at the same time, I refused to miss out on a chance to interact with such an amazing-looking beast.

“Are you sure that’s a good idea, Celestia?” Rhea held my arm in fear of the threat it could pose.

“It’s probably fine; if it really wanted to hurt us, why would it show itself so blatantly?” I pat her on the head to reassure her. “I will go see what it wants; please stay behind me.” Rhea nods her head with a look of worry as she follows closely behind.

As I approached the window, I could see all its tails waving away as if they were excited to find their owner. The fox just kept eye contact with me the whole time as I unlatched the window and slid it open. Surprisingly, it jumps right into my arms and starts trying to lick my face. All the foxtails are still fluttering around. That’s when I heard it.

‘Master!’ a voice yells in my mind. I look over to Rhea, who also seems to hear something. But why in the world would this very majestic-looking creature call me master?

“Why did you call me master?” I reply to the voice, which I assume to be the fox. It was also very high-pitched and feminine.

‘My name is Hieko, and I’m here representing the five terrors. We’re all spirit beasts, who protect the cradle, and the faithful servants of the master.’

“The five terrors—I swear I’ve heard of them before.” I thought as I tilted my head and looked at Rhea.

“I’ve heard of them, Celestia; they were the ones who fought with the demon lord over one thousand years ago.

"Well, I guess that confirms it, Rhea; I’m really the person everyone fears from the oracle.” I said it with a sigh.

I felt a hug from behind. “Don’t worry, Celestia; like I said earlier, we just have to win. But I am a little worried about these terrors. Are they even that strong? Didn’t the demon lord get destroyed quite easily by the hero? Why didn’t the terrors perish?” Rhea asks quizzically.

‘There is a very easy answer for that question, and it’s because the demon lord was a joke. His use of the cradle was subpar, and his power was also pathetic for someone in his position. He literally got knocked out in seconds by the hero during their confrontation. So we didn’t even have time to come to his aid.’ Hieko said it with some annoyance in her voice.

"Well, that isn’t very reassuring. Is the hero actually that powerful?” I look at the fox with worry about how strong a hero can actually be.

‘Honestly speaking, your power is one hundred times more powerful than the hero of one thousand years ago. He would be nothing but an ant if you could have perfect control over it. Also, the five terrors belong to the cradle, and the master of the cradle provides us with power. So if the master is weak, we will also suffer.’

"Well, that sounds promising.” I said with a chuckle at how excited the fox’s words were in my head. “Hieko, what is this cradle you’re talking about?”

‘The cradle is the other half of your power. Right now, the only power within your body is destruction. But as you would probably realize with a name like that, it wouldn’t be good to have a lot of it in one’s body alone. That’s why you must take in the cradle’s creation magic to balance you out.’

“Are you trying to say that right now I’m like a ticking time bomb with the magic I have inside of me?” My eyes widen at the revelation.

‘Yes and no. To put it simply, if you don’t balance out your power, you will destroy everything around you and descend into a mad state. That’s why it’s crucial to get you to the cradle as soon as possible.’

“So that dangerous magic has been in my body since birth? How have I managed not to go out of control before now?” I said it with a solemn look.

‘Destruction remained dormant within your body until it was ready to take it on. That awakening sent out a pulse that told us of your arrival in this world. Being a master and having great power isn’t to start a war like these crazy humans preach. It’s about creating and defending new species being born into this world.’

“So my position is that important?” I look over at Rhea, who has a really excited look on her face. She’s had a very difficult life, so getting to experience something like this is probably extremely thrilling for her. I mean, I’m no different.

‘Yes, it’s very important. For thousands of years, the cradle has brought a master to this world to once again populate it with new life, but the humans always massacre everything before it has a chance to really survive. That’s the short story of the war between humans and the demon lord, as they like to call it.’

“I can’t say I’m that surprised with noble culture being rampant around this kingdom. Nobles will always look down on everyone, unless they're of the same status. Being something that isn’t even human would be considered pets for these types of people.” Sigh, my role in this world is quite big. I can’t believe I’m the one responsible for creating a completely new civilization.

“Celestia, how do you feel about all of this?” Rhea looks at me with concern as she holds my hand.

“Well, the future is probably going to be troubling and, at the same time, very rewarding. At least I fully understand that I’m not actually a true enemy of mankind. They use the master as a scapegoat to massacre innocent races for their own selfish ambitions.” Most humans in power are complete trash, but there are probably some good ones, and I will try my best not to harm them in the future.

‘When are you going to turn your mate?’ Hieko asks out of nowhere, causing both Rhea and I to blush.

“How do you know I want to make her my mate?” I said this in disbelief and did not understand how, in the world, she had already come to this conclusion.

'Well, you see, as one of my powers, I’m able to see emotions. Earlier, when I was watching you two by the tree, there was a very pink atmosphere around both of you. That usually means both parties have mutual feelings towards each other.’ The fox drops a bomb as if it were nothing.

"Well, that’s great to know.” I said with a chuckle as I looked at Rhea, who had a red-bashful face with her hands covering it up.

'Also, master, you should be more careful of your surroundings. Those two men heard everything that was said between the two of you. They planned to ambush you, master, and then have fun with your mate. After I heard what they were planning on doing, I killed them off, so we wouldn’t have to worry in the future.

“Ah, so that was your handy work. Great job, Hieko!” I rubbed her head as she lay on my lap. “How dare those bastards think of doing something like that to Rhea? I would have killed them on the spot if I had heard their words.

'By the way, Master, can we solidify our contract?’ The fox looks up at me with expectation.

“Hmm, I don’t see why not; but what do I have to do?”

‘All you have to do is give me a drop of your blood, and that will complete the master servant contract.’

“Isn’t that a bit too easy?” I asked with a bit of skepticism about how easy the process was.

‘It does seem that way, but only your blood would be able to form a contract with a spirit beast.’

Thinking I really don't have anything to lose, I bite my finger and put it in front of the fox. She licks it clean as the super regeneration of a vampire kicks in and heals my cut seconds. At the same time, I thought to myself, am I being too trusting? I just naturally believe everything Hieko is telling me. My weakness is her race and my obsession with fox girls in my past life. My normal warning alarms just aren’t operating correctly.

Rhea grabs my hand and looks where I was just injured. “Did your wound just heal instantly?” She asks with astonishment.

“Yeah, it’s one of the many perks of my race and something you will also have once you get turned.” I gave her a warm smile. “You will receive regeneration along with super strength, and all of your senses will heighten to a large degree. Some kind of magic power will most likely also unlock inside of you, but I'm not quite sure about this one.” I look down at the fox that was still in my lap, who also seems to be growing in size.

I start feeling a strong connection being established between Hieko and myself. There was tracking-type radar in my head when I thought about Hieko’s current location. Granted, she’s currently sitting on my lap, but if she were miles away, I’m pretty confident I would still be able to know her exact location. The other thing about Hieko was that her vitality was growing rapidly. I guess my power really does boost her quite a bit.

“Alright, are you still sure you want to do this? There’s no going back after it's done.” Watching Rhea’s ecstatic reaction to my question, she seems ready and raring to go.

“Please do it, Celestia. I will never regret it, I promise!” Rhea had a resolute expression on her face.

“I’m going to have to bite your neck, so please don’t freak out at the contact. Just try to enjoy the feeling.” Rhea’s eyes open wide upon hearing she would get bitten, but she quickly finds her resolve as she nods her head furiously.

When it comes to turning someone into a vampire, I honestly have no idea how to do it. I’m more going on my own instincts. A lot of common sense about my race entered my head during my awakening, and I feel like this should work without issue. It’s all about the venom that comes out of my fangs, which will turn someone. If you don’t want to turn your victim, just don’t inject any venom.
