WIP Updates
Added 2019-10-01 15:06:05 +0000 UTCI meant to post this update Sunday but I got busy and was so tired that afternoon I passed out early on the couch lol.
Foraging Mod & Woodworking Updates:
I was originally going to focus on the woodworking updates but I realized it requires some of the mechanics I had planned for the Foraging Mod so that's what I worked on this weekend. As soon as I started working on it, I came up with a bunch of neat ideas and was able to add some new functionality to this mod:
- Sims will have a chance to get multiple items from several groups of item types (like berries, insects, and mushrooms) making it a little easier to live off of foraging if you prefer. I chose to do this instead of having separate interactions to search for specific things so it's more fun and random.
- Sims will be able to forage for different groups of items from different types of plant types. Right now the types I have are Bush, Shrub, Grass, Flower, Tree, Rock, & Water Plants. Each will have a unique group of items to forage for, an example of this is if a sim forages in grass they will have a chance to find roots, stink bugs, locusts, and certain herbs.
- Sims can fail at foraging. Sims that have the Collectors, Love the Outdoors, Survivalists, and One with Nature traits have a higher chance of succeeding at foraging. Sims who have the Survivalist, One with Nature traits and have the witch perk Incredible Forager will get twice as many items when they succeed at foraging.
- Sims may not find anything while foraging. In this case they will usually get some scraps or an upgrade part. Sometimes sims will be unfortunate and be attacked by something while foraging making them uncomfortable for a while. Another less common result (which may require EP01) is that your sim may be bit by a venomous spider or rub against some poison ivy. If bit by a spider your sim will become sick with a fever, if they get poison ivy they will develop a rash. I actually made an overlay for these so you can actually see this on your sim when it happens :P
- Foraging will be added to all world plants first. I've already picked out the plants I'll be adding the interactions to from Willow Creek and Oasis Springs to start.
I tested out a basic version of this on Saturday and it worked PERFECTLY! I still need to add the other buff tunings, flesh out the loots for the remaining plant types, and update the injector tuning. Once that's done I'll release the first version for Early Access to test.
October Lot:
Let me tell you, it has NOT been easy trying to decorate with the furniture style they gave us in the RoM pack, not for a cottage anyway. I made this lot so it should function Off the Grid and it even has it's own little out house lol. I need to finish decorating the landscape and spell room then make a couple small things and it's done. It should be available this weekend, until then here's a couple of pics:
