2025-05-20 04:30:34 +0000 UTCI agree with Mav, Japanese-made cars are of better quality. When I was stationed in Camp Zama, I bought/drove a (used) Fairlady Z. The biggest adjustment (for me) right-handed steering wheel and driving on the left side of the road. Rumor has it, Japan is bringing back the Fairlady. I usually took a chopper to the embassy, but in Japan low mileage cars could be had for cheap because the older a car got the costlier it was to keep/register it, the complete opposite of the US. Btw, I never ventured outside the greater Tokyo area without my "friend," the mid 90s was a period of a strong Yen/weak dollar; no internet, no GPS, no English. I'd usually let my friend drive on long trips, she was my GPS/navigator/translator/driver and no, she didn't drive/own a Subaru. Cars were a luxury for the typical Japanese back in the 1990s.

Markets just kept going higher and people didn't know what to think of it, since the economy was worse and worse on the daily with the exorbitant reparations, bankruptcies, unemployment, collapse of government bonds... the stock market kept exploding higher and people just didn't know what to think of it... it was a symptom of the inflation and the loss of value in the currency.

Sure, sanctions technically do not apply to food, but a truce and normalization of relations with Russia might reverse the premium wheat got due the war.
