Museum - WIP Update
Added 2018-06-01 16:51:17 +0000 UTCSo I've decided to push this set pieces and lot out a month or two. I'll let you know where I'm at with it as I progress. There are several reasons for this:
- I got behind due to slots and don't want to sacrifice objects to release it sooner.
- Glass roofs are coming and they'll work WAY better for this lot than dance floors.
- I want to make some outdoor versions of Peacemaker's brick arches. Unfortunately, the regular version doesn't match the brick when it's in outside lighting because they use counter shaders and I'm trying to figure out the best way to do this while respecting Peacemakers TOU.
I've tried to make up for the setback by wrapping up and releasing the Greenhouse set I was working on a while back, more details on that to come.
Objects I plan to finish for the Museum:
- Cabinet Display Backings - give cabinet it's original solid color backing if you prefer
- Pinned Info Sheets - for display descriptions
- One Word Decal Labels - for display name
- Add label slots (if I have time) to the front of all the display inserts
- Glass Wall Case (to cover paintings or house an insert to display objects)
- 1x1
- 2x1
- 1x2
- Glass Wall Case Insert - (to hold objects at 90 degree angle for display)
- 1x1, 2x2, 3x3
- 2x1, 3x1, 3x2
- 1x2, 2x3
- Floating Frame (to hold decals; make custom framed pics or make insect or jewelry display)
- Square
- Horizontal Rectangle
- Vertical Rectangle
- Wall Decals
- People
- Places
- Art & Sculpture
- Jewelry
- Bird Feathers
- Butterflies
- Beetles
I know, I'm a little overzealous but it will come together. Most of these are going to be fairly simple, but it may be a little time consuming to extract and crop textures for all the decals.
Museum Lot:
I'm setting up Newcrest to be brick multilevel buildings downtown, some crafstman homes on the main street, and old warehouse lots by the waterfront. The museum is going to be one of those old converted warehouses.
Half of the museum is going to be for art, and the other half is going to be for natural history. The space in-between (where the glass roof will go) is going to be an outdoor area with a cafe and maybe some amateur photography exhibit areas.
Here's a peek at the basic shape of the museum and some details I was playing with. Don't freak out it's mess. I start my lots like this so I can brainstorm what pieces I want to use and what I need to make. It comes together pretty quickly once I've figured all that out :)
