"An unexplained phenomenon caused a small number of people to develop insatiable appetites, and grew larger as the indulged their gluttony. At first, they could be satisfied with enough normal food, but as they grew larger, their stomachs mutated and specialized, making them reliant on a single food source: normal humans.
'Less than one in a million people turned into "Slurpers," as some of them call themselves, but the chaos they caused destroyed most of modern civilization within two years. Now, the remnants of humanity do their best to survive in the ruins of civilization, while the young giants forge their own crude society...
'The mutation only affected people between the ages of 18 and 23, and was not purely random, but rather seemed to cluster around certain groups of friends for unknown reasons. It affected both sexes, although female 'slurpers' are more common and tend to grow slightly larger. The cause is unknown, but is correlated with several behavioral variables, including low test scores, criminal activity, and low empathy. At the current rate, it is unlikely that humanity will survive for more than a few years in any significant numbers..."

2019-03-13 21:13:03 +0000 UTCNot a bad idea! I am thinking about turning it into a series. It would focus on them when they're already huge, but could also have flashbacks at some point. I was thinking they'd have a little group of friends that go around razing towns and cities one by one, in between joking around and fucking. There'd only be like 25-100 of these groups in the U.S., so it would be fairly rare to encounter others, but when they ran into another it could be a bit like running into a rival gang. Mostly they just get drunk (they're super-sensitive to alcohol so it just takes a few normal-sized beers to get wasted) and try to track down people they know so they can fuck with them...
