Of all the routes the fate routes is definitely the most romantic one and that’s due to the fact of how very similar both Shirou and Saber are together so this pairing is definitely more romantic. They did a decent job with this date ep but yea the Vn is much better due to the fact that we get to know about saber thoughts. The whole thing about being a normal girl, be free, having friends and especially love is all Alien to saber but when she spends time with her master doing the most normal things she never gets to do. She slowly but surely begins to feel the concept of joy and other verity of feelings she never felt or never thought of feeling. So the whole arguments scene cut very deep to saber’s heart because the slander shirou was saying to her were similar to the ones Rider and Gil were saying to her in the previous war. She felt irritated that someone special to her would call her out like that so she threw those words back at Shirou nearly in tears when shirou ditch her.

2024-12-21 19:38:42 +0000 UTCWhat's great about Shirou and Saber's big argument in this episode is that everything Shirou says is correct, but Saber quite rightly throws it back in his face by pointing out his hypocrisy. After all, the irony of Emiya Shirou, of all people, calling someone out for letting the past dominate their actions, and for fighting only for the sake of others when there's nothing in it for themself, is staggering. (Also, I'm assuming you caught it and just didn't comment on it, but in case you didn't - the shipwreck is collateral damage from Saber using her NP in the fight against Caster in Fate/Zero.)
