Person of Interest S02E18: All In (Full Reaction)

Comments

All In- Thank you so much for another great reaction to Person of Interest, Reds! I really enjoy this episode! It has great storylines, and I love seeing Leon make another appearance throughout this episode as well. He's always a fun character to see again. I like his character a lot, because he brings a lot of comedy to the show. And his interactions with Reese are fantastic! :) It's really tragic that Detective Szymanski is killed in the end of this episode. I've always really liked his character whenever he's popped in and out of this show. And I love him all the more because he is one of the few good cops throughout this show. Seeing him get killed by Alonso Quinn himself. Just so that he can't testify against Peter Yogorov and his brother, and so Yogorov can help HR with their money problems. He deserved so much better. And Szymanski was a good friend of Carter's too, so she is definitely gonna take his death pretty hard. In regards to the killer in prison whom Simmons and Quinn within HR attempt to make a deal with for money... This killer and drug dealer, Peter Yogorov, has actually been in this show in an episode from season one. It was the same episode when Elias was first introduced, in the episode, titled... Witness. Back when Elias went under his long time alias... Charlie Burton, the teacher. Yogorov and his little brother were the leaders of the Russian thugs trying to hunt down and kill Elias and Reese. Both Yogorov brothers were later arrested by Carter thanks to Reese. And just in case you've ever wondered why the actor, Michael McGlone, who plays Detective Szymanski, might look somewhat familiar... He weirdly enough used to star in multiple Geico commercials quite a long time ago. You might have seen him in them. It's crazy! :) As for the main storyline... I really enjoy it. I really feel for this episode's "person of interest", Lou Mitchell... a retired former gambler and money sharp, forced to help a thug launder money through the criminal's casino, along with a number of other seniors and retirees. I like that Lou fights to stay in New York where his wife is buried and where he is to one day be buried alongside of her, and that he fights to take down these corrupt men running the casino to honor his wife. I also really love that he wants to buy the diner where he always eats and comes to visit with the waitress, as a way of giving back to the place where he first met his wife. It's beautiful! And seeing Finch give Lou the broken two million dollar watch from the previous episode, titled... One Percent with Logan Pierce, so that Lou can fix it up and buy the diner, is really wonderful. :) Also... I absolutely love the whole scene where Reese, Finch, Leon, and Lou are forced into a game of Russian Roulette, and seeing Reese suddenly break free from his bonds before the chance that Finch will be shot, as he fights a number of men before nearly getting shot himself, until Lou protects him by disappearing the bullet through slight of hand. Reese and the others weren't ever in danger because Lou had managed to get the bullet as the criminal was supposedly loading it into his gun, but no one else knew this. Although... I suspect that Reese had an idea that he might have, given the smirk he gives to Lou after the bad guys are taken out. Very clever. And lastly... Like Reese, I absolutely understand why Finch is afraid to be with Grace, because her life would constantly be in danger if they were to try to make a life together work. And Finch loves Grace far too much to allow her to be put into any kind of danger because of him and his work. But more than this... If you remember, Grace also believes that Finch is dead, because Finch faked his death the day of the ferry bombing when he was nearly killed, and when his best friend, Nathan, was killed. He did so, most to keep Grace safe, but as well as himself, from the people behind the bombing and everything to do with the very few people who know of the Machine's existence. Oh... And yes, Michael Emerson (Finch) is indeed married to the actress who plays Grace. Carrie Preston. They've been married for a long time now, and as far as I've heard, they are very happily married. And they even have guest starred in an episode or more back and forth in one another's shows that they've starred in throughout their lives. It's beautiful. Overall, a very enjoyable episode. So, thank you so much for your reaction, Reds! Sincerely, Heidi
