Hollywood What If Chapter 185

With Stella Willow's persistence, she convicted 20th Century Fox and Warner Bros to throw their bad blood with Grey Pictures and focused their attention on DreamWorks instead.

It was amazing how the woman convinced the two film companies. She used different means, enticing them with scripts, promising cooperation, and telling them that DreamWorks was getting better these days. The woman was very good at her job.

Even Kazir Grey could never do what she did.

Because of that, Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace was released in May. Even though the promotion was quite hectic, every fan was excited to watch the iconic movie.

The companies deduced that the movie might surpass the $1 billion mark. In each passing year, Hollywood slowly understood that movies could actually earn 1 billion at the box office. Furthering the hatred of the European film industry.

European film industry was the first of its kind but it failed in globalization. Gradually, Hollywood movies influenced more countries until the European film industry could only release their movies within their turf.

Of course, some European films entered the United States but they didn't have a strong reception. On top of that, most European directors have this fetish about sex in their films. Their movies would be Rated-R and the tickets being sold would be affected as well.

In the month of May 1999, few movies had good performance. Well, the summer schedule started this month after all.

The Mummy by Universal Pictures. They are estimated to earn more than $400 million worldwide.

Notting Hill, a romantic comedy starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant. Estimated to earn around $350 million worldwide.

Of course, the best movie of May was none other than Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace. If the forecast was right, this movie would be the third 1 billion dollar movie in history. The hype of this movie was very strong. Even Liam Neeson had a role in this movie and his salary was quite good.

In June, The Matrix, Austin Powers, Tarzan, and Wild Wild West were the winners.

"Haaahh..."

Kazir yawned and stretched his body. He stood up and looked at his surroundings. He was inside a room where a bunch of monitors were set up.

He rubbed his face, just to wake himself from his stupor. His eyes were a bit sore because he didn't have a good sleep.

After the filming ended in May, Kazir immediately started the post-production of The Bourne Identity. There was no rest in between. He spent his time editing the movie together with Rector. With his good memory, they started at the skeletal frame of the movie before trimming the unnecessary scenes.

Thankfully, The Bourne Identity was not packed with CGI scenes. In fact, there was no CGI at all.

Kazir didn't have to waste his time hiring a special effects team to render some scenes.

That was a good thing. Because if there was a CGI scene, then it would take Kazir at least two months until the appropriate special effects were created.

Time was his enemy right now. He signed a contract with Sony-Columbia that his movie should be released in late July or early August. If he failed to accomplish that, then had to pay the penalties.

Even though Kazir was good at his job and he was fast. He couldn't help but feel the urgency. The time was pressuring him.

Because of that, Editor Rector suffered the same thing.

Rector was currently sleeping on the keyboard. His drool dripped, and his face was haggard. It seemed that proper rest was non-existent in him.

"... At last, we finished the editing."

June was very busy for many people but Kazir spent the month in the editing room. Even Erica Mendez was free most of the time because of it.

Kazir sighed after knowing that his month of suffering ended. He had to apologize to Rector's wife because he abducted Rector for a month.

'I have to give this guy a bonus.'

Kazir left the room to get some fresh air, he looked at the hallway and found that there was no one around.

'It's still early.'

Kazir went upstairs and entered his office. His office had a bathroom that he could use. To freshen him, he decided to take a bath.

'20th Century Fox expressed their goodwill by changing the schedule of Star Wars. As for Warner Bros, The Matrix was released in June. It seems that Warner Bros never had the intention of taking our bad side. It's understandable since I'm still in the process of writing The Hangover Part 3.'

Even though his position was only the scriptwriter, no one belittled Kazir. He was good at his job and everyone accepted his credibility. As long as possible, Warner Bros wouldn't trouble him.'

'But once The Hangover Part 3 is over, they will definitely try to do something. At that time, perhaps I can find ways to survive.'

A few hours later, the building of Grey Pictures became busy again.

Erica Mendez entered Kazir's office.

"Sir, this is the newspaper that you're asking for.'

"Thanks."

Kazir was still tired but he had to work for the company.

'Usually, I will take some weeks to rest but I can't do it now that I have another job to do.'

If not for Stella Willow who took most of the job, Kazir might die in overwork.

Kazir checked the newspaper. He smirked when he read something interesting.

"As expected... They are really trying to scam the whole country." He chuckled.

In his past life, the company that acquired The Blair Witch Project was Artisan Entertainment.

However, perhaps because of Kazir's interference in the timeline, the one that got The Blair Witch Project this time was Miramax.

In the newspaper, there was an article about a group of college students who went to Burkittsville, Maryland, and went missing. They interviewed the people about the mythical Blair Witch and decided to enter the Black Hills neat the Burkittsville.

"If I'm not wrong, the news will cover this story."

Comments

"...she convicted 20th Century Fox..." - I think you mean "convinced". Also, how is the marketing the same if a different company acquired the movie? I haven't followed the Blair Witch Project's development path, so I'm curious how he was certain that they'd still do shady advertising all over the place like this.

Matthew

Probably all the above. It's a domino effect. Once the truth is known, their investment will be affected.

Pujimaki

So what's his plan? Fuck with their expensive publicity campaign, buy the videotape rights or try to get them in trouble for their methods?
