If you're going to ask me, I'm still skeptical about these people. My wife urged me that I should go back but I decided to stay.

I knew that I'm acting paranoid but I can't let these workers in the house unsupervised. I have to watch over them. Even if our interaction was good, I can't let them stay in the house without me.

So yes, I decided to text Santiago that I would return around 4 pm. These workers would leave at that time.

Santiago texted back and said that there was no problem. There were few remaining burgers and they could take care of the shop.

Penelope glanced at me and giggled.

"Keith, you are overacting... But I like it. I'll go out and watch over the kids. As for you, Mister Castillo, be our guard and watch over them."

She whispered and touched my chest.

"Take care."

I nodded. My wife probably understood my intention so she decided to let me be.

"I like a responsible man." She muttered.

"I'm a responsible man," I answered.

"Well... Sometimes you are not. Fufu, don't look at me like that. Sometimes you are more immature than your kids."

Am I? I didn't know that. I thought I was pretty mature at my age.

I tilted my head in confusion and my wife giggled at me. She then left the room to look at the kids.

I heard Sophia's happy giggles. It seemed that Sophia loved her mother very much.

While my thoughts were on the kids, the five workers started doing their jobs.

They first moved the bed out of the room to make sure that it would not be painted. They started moving things out of the room so that space would be wider.

I led them to the guest room as temporary storage. This bungalow house actually had five rooms. So far, we were only using two rooms and the other rooms became storage rooms.

Our house didn't have a second floor but it was wide. I was still amazed at how much my family spent on making this house.

My dad had a habit of buying and making houses just for the purpose of investing... If you're going to ask me, I have no clue how this works. Land and house were appreciated every year. So this house might be over 5 million pesos this year. The size of this house was already wide and it was maintained well.

"If another year passed, this house will going to be 5.3 million pesos, I think. I'm not sure what the exact amount but that's how it usually works."

I weakly muttered to myself as I was getting involved in the idea of this house's value.

Unfortunately, this house was owned by my father. I heard that this house should be one of my inheritance. However, my relationship with my father was severed and this house would never be mine.

If I'm being honest, I'm scared that my father would show up and kick my family out of the house. That situation was not impossible to happen.

Time passed and the workers ended their job for today, they worked fast. They might finish the job within three to four days. Perhaps they were excited about the chance of finding a better job with a higher salary.

"Let me take you to the entrance of the subdivision."

"Thank you, Sir Keith!"

This was a subdivision and it was impossible to find Jeepney of Tricycle here. So I decided to use my car to take them to the entrance. The entrance was next to the highway. They won't have a problem finding a Jeepney there.

Besides, I'm going to the shop too. So taking them to the entrance was just a side quest. My real mission was to get to the shop and take the money.

The five workers were not fit inside the car so they have to sit in the back/trunk.

If they walk out of the subdivision, they might reach the entrance in around one hour at best. But with a car, it only took us 8 minutes.

"T- Thanks Sir Keith. We will bring our documents tomorrow. We hope you can choose one of us."

"Alright. But I have to tell you that I still have to watch over you for a month before making you a regular employee."

I'm not doing a charity. I want to make sure that the person I chose would behave well in the shop.

"We understand."

Two of the five workers were young. Perhaps in their twenties.

As for the remaining three, they looked mature and rough. Based on their appearances, they have enough experience in life.

People their age understood the truth that it was almost impossible for them to have a salary increase or promotion.

Promotion in Construction Industry was not that simple. In my experience, most of the construction workers were undergraduates. People who didn't finish high school and elementary... Most of them didn't have a good education. They could not write or read.

It was basically impossible for them to be promoted, especially if they could not understand a construction plan/building plan.

I could relate to why they were eager to find a better job with a higher salary. That was the reason why I resigned as a taxi driver. Because I knew that my salary was not enough for my family.

"They are probably fathers just like me. They need money for their families."

Changing jobs might be the best decision.

After dropping them at the entrance of the subdivision, I stepped on the gas and went to the FCIE to notify my two workers about the changes. They might have a new coworker this week.
