Calix immediately controlled his emotions and smiled, greeting Berto with a "nice to meet you" nod.

Berto returned the gesture, then he looked at his mother.

"Mom, this man is...?"

"Oh, he is a reporter. You know, just like in the old days. But he's a nice guy so I let him in."

"But Mom, you should be careful, okay? You can't let others enter your house just like that."

"Oh come on, I'm the one we're talking about here. I can protect myself." The woman winked.

"And? What's with your eyes? Did you cry? Did this reporter make you cry?"

Berto glanced at Calix. His voice was clear as possible and Calix kept his somber expression, not making noise.

"You silly, mister reporter didn't make me cry... I- I just, I made a blunder and thought that he was your sister. His eyes were like your sister's."

In their family, only Clara had green eyes so it was hard to disregard the comparison.

"Okay," Berto sighed. He thought his mother was getting bullied.

"Don't worry sir, I'm gonna leave too. Ma'am, thank you for giving me a chance to talk to you. Now, may you please excuse me."

Calix packed his belongings and stood up. He looked at the two and bid his farewell. He knew that this situation was bad for him. Berto identified him and his mission might be compromised... Furthermore, Calix realized that the man he fought in the Ancient Library was actually his Uncle!

What a coincidence!? They almost killed each other!

So Calix decided to escape before things might get worst.

"Really? I'm planning to prepare cookies and tea."

"I'm all fine, Ma'am. Then, have a good day."

Calix steeled his heart and passed through the door even though Berto was staring intently. He greeted them for the last time and left.

"I thought he was going to ask for more information, I guess he felt bad that he was disturbing your visit."

Mrs. Palina Alb said while staring at Calix's silhouette. Her heart was still restless when she thought that Calix resembles her daughter.

"Berto, do you think that guy is your nephew?"

She said but she was not sure.

"You mean Calix? Clara's son who's in Dellia? If he is really in Junian right now, then I will beat Andreas for keeping it a secret."

Berto answered, his gaze deep as he thought of something.

"Yes... Never mind, I'm probably just missing my daughter."

She shook her head and smiled bitterly. Perhaps she was still affected by her daughter's and husband's death. Losing two members of her family was heartbreaking.

"Mom..."

"I'm fine."

She assured him. Berto hugged his mother and comforted her. Mrs. Alb was already old and living her life in this lonely house. Berto wanted her to live with him but Mrs. Alb never wanted to let go of the house, because this place meant a lot to her.

"Where's your son? Is he not going to visit me? They have a vacation, right?"

"Don't worry, he said that he will come."

Berto sighed. His marriage was in shambles and he was divorced. Even the surname of his son was not Alb because Berto's ex-wife was a strong-headed woman.

"Then I will prepare nice dishes!"

She happily clapped her hands and went to the kitchen.

Berto, who was left alone in the living room, glanced in the direction where Calix walked.

"If I remember it right, that man stole something. I swear Andreas is an asshole in parenting! He let his son become a criminal! What a father!"

Confirmed, Berto resents Andreas, probably because he blamed Andreas for Clara's death.

..........

......

...

"Did I escape?"

Calix asked himself and turned around, discerning if someone was following him. He sighed in relief when he realized that no one was following him.

He returned to being an Emo guy who had bangs over his face, not a neat reporter.

"I thought he is going to attack me. His gaze is quite scary. Damn, I never know that my Uncle is actually strong!"

He was not confident that he could defeat someone like Berto. Unlike Esmeralda who specialized in Darkness, Berto had unique abilities that could defend against his Luck.

'Perhaps it's because my Uncle and I are from the lineage of High Elves, that's why we have strong powers.'

He was not the protagonist, Calix already knew it a long time ago. Yet in a way, everyone was the protagonist of their own stories.

"Huh? Lucky, is that you? Man, I never expected that I will see you here!"

While Calix was busy with his own thoughts, someone greeted him.

"Hey, Quandale Dingle here!"

"Huh? Quandale? Why are you here?"

It was a shock for him to see one of his friends in this place. Perhaps he was living here.

"I'm here to visit my Grandma."

The two dabbed and talked.

"What about you man, why are you here?"

"I'm exploring the capital when my feet brought me here. This place is nice, it's quiet, unlike the city."

"Indeed. Anyway, let's play again once vacation is over."

"Have a nice vacation, bro."

"You too bro!"

The two separated.

'I can't believe that I will see Quandale here.'

"What are you doing?"

"Oh shit!"

When he was far away from the village, Calix almost had a heart attack when a guy showed up behind him. He immediately turned around and pulled out his necklace.

"Interesting weapon you have there."

Calix's weapon turned into an SMG MP7 and pointed it at Berto who appeared out of thin air.

"Sadly, that thing will not work on me."

"What do you want?"

Calix became serious. Even if the person in front of him was his Uncle, Calix was not afraid to pull the trigger. He was not close to him anyway. His life over a strange Uncle of course.

"I should be asking you that, what do you want from us?"

Berto was not joking. He was standing there, menacingly! Even his posture was domineering.

"..."

Swallowing his saliva, Calix's body was wrapped by a Battlesuit, in case Berto attacked him and send him to the strange office rooms.
