It was all underhand and basket catches until he got the hand-eye coordination down. After a year I taught him how to flip his glove and catch a ball coming directly at him. In a huge school of 5,000 kids, he was homecoming king in high school. He grew to be 6'2 and 230 pounds and played fullback for the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers. Teaching boys how to play ball and get along with other boys in essential for their development.
