2024-10-19 02:11:20 +0000 UTCI just thought of a new recommendation for you guys. The Serpent and the Rainbow (1988). I'm sure I'm not the only one to have forgotten about this movie. I won't give any spoilers, only to say that the part that is true in this story is that there really was a man named Wade Davis, who went to Haiti in search of a drug. They thought it would be a helpful anesthetic during surgeries, but in the end concluded that it would not be suitable. What he found was indeed a drug, but also the superstitions in the area; the truth of them. And it is pretty horrible what was going on. That's all I'll say. Davis wrote a book about it, and I had forgotten that this film was a Wes Craven film. It is the stuff of nightmares. If you ever do this movie, afterward I will tell you what was left out of the movie. Seriously the stuff of nightmares. And the fact that much of this was actually true... terrifying.
