The Blair Witch Project

The Blair Witch Project

Comments

I saw this in theaters when it first came out! It was the first movie of it's kind, and it was terrifying! Thought it was 100% real, and nearly walked out of the theater. My hand was sore from squeezing my girlfriends hand. Got home and was looking behind the shower curtains and doors! Then saw the girl in a Steak and Shake commercial like a week later....πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Brad Beach

Just finished this reaction and it was so much fun. I love that you never really knew if it was real or not. Thats what makes the film so good. Thanks guys this was awesome

Rio Mendoza

This was such a fun one to watch along you two. And by the amount of comments, others must agree! haha The acting in this one was soooo good. I feel like everyone remembers when this one came out. And yes, the snot while she was filming was definitely commented on back then. and we thought it was gross and funny but I suppose happens after crying so much LOL I'm already sad October is almost over!

Bonnie Smith

I still remember when this movie came out. I know ppl were talking about it on internet, back when Internet wasn't as accessible as it is now, unless you had a computer. Ppl really thought it was real. The promotion imo for it was brilliant. Heck I thought it was real, until I saw the cast on the MTV MOVIE AWARDS πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Anthony Turner

I was in college when this came out it definitely had everybody wondering if it was real at the time I live in Maryland so it was a local thing too. I don't think I've watched it since then. Ageing is only for the lucky ✨

JessicaB

It's nice watching these analog horror flicks that doesn't feel like it has to pay heed to social propriety and talk about muh trauma or whatever passes for "depth" . I like that sweaty lost in no-man's land feeling this has down to the screaming into the void exhausted terror at the end. Reminds me of Texas chainsaw but still superior to its multiplex found footage progeny.

Venner

This movie is overrated πŸ’…πŸ½ #sorrynotsorry

Paige Moody

So here is what I know about this movie!! This movie was marketed by "Artisan entertainment", which later became Fox which later became Lions Gate.....Anyway, my best friend was the Marketing director at Artisan at the time and she woud send me the movies on VHS after they were made....She told me this movie was coming out and I had to see it...well at that time I was pregnant with my first baby....She was around 25 and i was 29 and at the time had moved from Richmond VA to LA so I had the inside on all the major Hollywood releases. But because we were like sisters, she knew I hated scary movies....and all she said was when this comes out I have to see it!! I knew about the making of the movie etc...but she never let me in on the big secret.....and when I saw this, I was absolutely in shock and terrified ....and it wasn't until after I saw it she told me the truth about this movie!! But I will wait cause I'm not revealing anyting before someone else reveals it ....I will wait!! But this movie was all anyone was talking about!!!! and I was so upset that she made me see this....cause this damn movie scared the Bgeesus out of me!!!! LOL ENJOY THOUGH!!!! iT STILL CREEPS ME OUT!!! THANKS FOR YALLS GREAT REACTIONS AND LOTS OF LOVE TO YOU BOTH!!! XOXOOX

ali schmidt

Well, he could have said Hey I am Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater!!! Hahahhah ;)

ali schmidt

I know I mentioned this movie before called Suspiria. Which is about witches.

Yasss!!! So glad you did this one. I saw this in the theatres and the marketing was brilliant!! This flick was made on a tiny budget and limited release. Word got out and it went viral so they distributed in more theatres and made a TON of money. The marketing with the trailers and the website tricked everyone to thinking or wondering if it was all real. I seem to recall they even had some documentary about the documentary so it tricked you even more. Yes lots of parodies and even Scooby Doo jumped on the Blair Witch craze. It was too cute. Don’t bother with any of the sequels or remakes. They don’t come close and this one is just perfect on its own. Happy October and loved the Jammie’s Asia.

Pink Martini AZ

I remember when this movie first came out. Saw it in the theater. Spooky as shit. As far real life, I'm lost in the woods, what do I do? You find a stream and you follow it down, as in the water moving towards the sea. You will eventually find some kind of a human settlement eventually.

Jerry

lol, a lot of people got motion sickess with this film, some walked out. I saw this in theaters as well. If you go camping, you need a native on your team to guide you and keep you safe. I use to navigate in the woods at night and could barely see but never scared. I could hear heavy foot steps running around me but elk are known in this area. Rememeber God says, "Fear not, for I am with thee." And one thing about this movie they did some research on was craving curtain foods, apparently that's one of the first signs of starvation. Good reaction video upload. No zombie films yet?

Saints_Madness

Oh, they do have a compass...it's the witch then πŸ˜‚

Dan Gonya

I remember an episode of Mythbusters where they tried walking straight through the woods with no compass, and both of them managed to walk in one big circle. Apparently humans while walking without an actual heading will walk favoring left or right, depending on your dominate side...I think. Case and point, Asia said it, don't wander into the woods without a damn compass. πŸ˜‚

Dan Gonya

Speaking of witches... you guys should do Suspiria (1977) *and* the 2018 remake. You can't watch the remake without watching the original first. The remake is good because it's different, it doesn't try to be the old Suspiria but is successful and incredibly creepy. So I like both even though they are very different. Jessica Harper, the star of the original (she played Susie Bannion) does make a cameo. And Tilda Swinton was amazing in the Suspiria remake. She actually plays TWO characters, but you won't recognize her second identity. Bet you won't! And... Dakota Johnson plays Susie in the remake. If you're wondering about the title.... Suspiria is from the Latin suspirium, meaning sigh or breath. In the world of Suspiria, there are three mothers: Mother of Sighs, Mother of Tears and Mother of Darkness. You don't need to know all that to enjoy the movies though.

Ana

I have mixed feelings about this movie. It was well done and was one of the first, if not THE first of this type of found footage horror movie. On one hand it was brilliantly done, and it was done without much of a budget. It led to movies like Paranormal Activity. On the other hand though, it also gave rise to all the rest of the very cheaply made, crappy, found footage style movies. So, in conclusion, I like this for what it is, but I don't necessarily care for all of what came to follow.

Dan Gonya

I love this movie and your reactions to it was spot on! and I'm glad you let that dramatic moment breath and didn't just lose it to the Scary Movie parody that's forever stuck in our heads after seeing. there's a few sequels to this, I guess. I haven't seen any until 2016. I thought it was a reboot, but the more I watched it, I think it makes for a great part 2 to this movie. Blair Witch (2016) I highly recommend.

Mister Lou

I remember when they released the trailer for this movie. People wanted to know if it was for real. It had everybody freaked out, including me! BJ, I was also a sophomore in high school when this was released, so you’re not alone showing your age.

Casey Salley

Jaguars Lol

Daniel Mahowald

I haven't seen this since it came out in the theatre. I forgot how lame the ending is!!!!!! The handprints were the size of little kids it seems. They heard cackling? Was Kamala in the woods? :D

Bmac Tattoo

I was one of those people who freaked out πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I mean I wasn’t shaking and crying but this movie scared the shit out of me. Probably because I spent so much time reading all the Blair witch stuff on the internet before it was released and went in thinking this is a true real life story. I’m a little gullible and they had me convinced. And the fact nothing like this had ever been done before. I was scared for like a week until I saw them on Letterman πŸ˜‚ πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

Michele G

A Cloverfield feel.

Kyndu

Loved the reaction (: Another horror movie in the same genre "found footage" is REC, a spanish movie from 2007, excellent one that I highly recommend to react (:

Kenny

One of my favorite movies in the world, and the best reaction ever.

Todd Rush

Just started watching!! OMG Asia the pumpkin onesie is amazing!! I love it!! ❀️

Rebecca Karsner

Saw this in the theater when it came out and walked out laughing at how bad it was at the end. However other people were shaking and crying and trying to not have anxiety attacks which made things funnier at the time. I haven't been interested in this film since BUT I'm going to rewatch it with Asia & BJ just to see the reaction.

Dana

Omg!! Elizabeth, I love me a cute onesie! They are my favs especially around this time of year!

Asia and BJ

Lol cackling is a type of laughter, not crunching of leaves 🀣

GenericStatue

Still good after all this time. Don't worry it's just a movie.

Dan Gershgol

Loved this reaction! The marketing for this was crazy back then.. to the point where the actors had to go into hiding before the release to make it seem real. And how they made the movie is also wild. Hope you guys do the sequel. It goes hard! Book of Shadows Blair Witch 2 (its not all shot on a handheld)

β˜†C~H~A~N~D~L~E~Rβ˜†

You have to go back to 1999 to get a real sense of this movie. This became the first viral movie like it exploded into the world and scared the living crap out of people. The marketing for this movie really sold the terror of it because many people believed the found footage was real so people started to believe that the Blair Witch was real. A lot of people hate it but nobody can deny the impact this little movie had on the world of cinema and effectively gave birth to the found footage subgenre. A sequel was released a year later to treat the first movie as if it was really real but it was a confusing mess.

Robert Durant

Y’all faces at the end was priceless! Lol. It made the movie scarier that you never got to see the witch. So you were anticipating it the whole movie.

Y'Manni

I like how Mike tries to be the voice of reason after what he did to the map. I would’ve punched him in his face MULTIPLE times.

Karim

ASIA you look amazing in your pumpkin onesie! I have a dinosaur onesie myself lol we should have a live onesie night!!!!

Elizabeth DeMerie

We lived in MA couple years...omg the ghost tours in Plymouth are super scary, my husband acted tough till we were in graveyard at midnight, he was scared πŸ’©less🀣🀣

Deborah Lewis

Awesome movie! Still hoping you can watch Beetlejuice though

Casey Salley

To help explain the ending... remember at the beginning when they interviewed the guy who said that a murderer once lived in the woods, and he would abduct children in pairs, killing one child while making the other stand in the corner. πŸ˜‰ Possessed by the Blair Witch? In theory this movie shouldn't work since there's no real conclusion or answers, yet it is πŸ’― effective in building suspense and tapping into common human fears. To do it as a documentary style of found footage was very smart. The viewers are much more forgiving about what they don't see.

Stacey Capito

Just watching now and already know we're not going to see Asia's face for about 80% of the movie. This one sticks with you.

LynnC

Yes, I had to go to the library to look at the website. It πŸ’― made you believe it was real. There were even "official" Missing posters distributed with their photos on it. Found a flyer on my car in the movie theater parking lot.

Stacey Capito

πŸ’― A simple idea with basic camera equipment and a brilliant marketing plan. Such a smart movie.

Stacey Capito

I saw this in the theaters !! It was SOOOOO scary bc this was the first time we had ever seen a movie like this from the POV of the characters. It was advertised as REAL found footage and a true story. The internet was just a baby at that time and they had all this cool stuff on the Blair witch website about the footage. I was sitting there thinking this is real life !! No one had ever made a movie like this. I was scared shitless! Then a week later we saw them on Dave Letterman and I felt so stupid ! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ but this movie is a classic and so good!!!!!

Michele G

It was the witch using Josh's voice to lure them in. She also kept them there by making them go in circles. The ones after this are garbage and are just leeching off the name of this movie. Not even close to the same thing.

Jesse McAdams

Oh Asia will never step foot in the woods again after this.. lmao!! Can't wait to watch later! 😁

Rebecca Karsner

Made $248M on a $200K Budget ABSOLUTELY Incredible

Christopher Williams

Seen this in theaters it's the birth of found footage and it was so hyped to be the real deal back then. I can already see Asia hiding about 85% of the movie lol. I can't wait for this tonight have fun everyone✌❀ fam!

Darth Brooks

You guys should watch 13 GHOST

Amber

lol πŸ˜‚ I CANT deal with Asia covering her face Anticipating a jump scare the Whole Movie… when there were Literally No Jump Scares hahahaha poor girl! Suffering just for us!

Abby

Yes we did. 🀣 It was great.

Stacey Capito

You guys are totally making my overworked ass ecmxcited for Halloween again!!! Great line up!

Elizabeth DeMerie

Omg yes!! The marketing team for this movie did their thing!! Because we all believed it was real!! I thought it was real until I saw the cast at an MTV awards event.. and then eventually saw the actress who plays Heather on an episode if It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia lolol

Rebecca Karsner

Man I remember seeing this in the movie theater we all thought it was real 🀣

Nicole

🀣🀣🀣 Their reaction did not disappoint.

Stacey Capito

This came out when I was in undergrad and one of my odd jobs to make ends meet was tutoring high school students. One of the parents worked for a film distribution company and got sneak peek tickets for his son and asked me to take him. Keep in mind, social media didn't really exist and having a home computer with internet was expensive. No cell phones to look things up on. The previews and marketing for it was 100% found footage documentary. We were excited because there was nothing else like it before. It scared the bejeezus out of me! And I rarely get spooked. Afterwards, the parents told us it wasn't real... just a cheaply made scary movie with brilliant marketing. It was fun to hear people talk about it, because they typically didn't the ruin the fun by revealing it wasn't real found footage. Good times!

Stacey Capito

It's an amazing movie! Would love to see their reaction.

Stacey Capito

Being a Maryland resident I couldn't believe how much the public wanted to believe this was so called "real" found film footage 😳

JL Green

BlessπŸ™πŸΎ Y'all brave souls 🀣

Have fun! It’s crazy to see Art transform from a short film to β€œAll Hallows Eve” to now a massive franchise.

Eamonn Locke

OMG this movie traumatized me when I first saw it. I couldn't even go camping when I was in Girl Scouts because this movie scared me so bad. I'm gonna watch this tonight in the dark lol. I think I can handle it now. I'm going to the premiere of Terrifier 3 tonight!!! Wish me luck everybody!! πŸ™ 🀣🀣

Rebecca Karsner

Crossing my fingers for Shutter Island soon (I know it's not horror, but it's still quite a dark movie).

Joshua Coe

Hoping the next movie will be Child’s Play aka Chucky

Mezz015

Nice! I watched this in theaters with some friends when I was in High School. The hype of it being actual found footage was real at the time. I love it for the nostalgia factor alone.

Eamonn Locke

Ooooooh, I’m so excited you watched this! I can’t wait to see how y’all react to the snot bubble from the woman’s nose… πŸ˜‚

David Croft-Ogawa

AWESOME!!!!! Another jumpscare movie πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯
