I'd never watched Death Note before starting work on this, but I'd seen this guy around and was pretty excited for the chance to take a crack at drawing him. He turned out to be a lot of fun. Oh, and I started watching Death Note, too, and I'm really enjoying it so far. I had some doubts going in. I had kinda gotten a bit of a "edge-lord teenage boy trying to be deep" vibe from the show in the past (kinda along the lines of how I felt about Devilman Crybaby, if you've ever heard me talk about that) but it quickly grabbed my attention and hasn't let go.
As a side note. sometimes I wonder if people ever get tired of me sneaking in Easter Eggs into my drawings. This one isn't exactly subtle, but I don't think a lot of people are going to get it. I'm patting myself on the back now because it's something I genuinely love, but I can already imagine the snide questions I'm probably going to get when I take this print to Anime Ohio at the end of June. lol
