There are people who believe there's a conspiracy about the back of a 20 dollar bill having hidden marks that link all kinds of weird stuff. Thank you for that Michael! I love Classics, I actually grew up on movies like Zulu and The sons of Katie Elder, Ben-Hur with Heston, etc, and quite a few 50s/60s classics. My dads a huge fan. I've taught my son the same, (His favourite is, One flew over the cuckoo's nest and actually, the Italian job lol) there's a lot of good classics to watch! But we do like modern movies as well. I do though, fear for the next generation, for many reasons, and I do get what you're saying Michael, movie wise. I just appreciate we're not all going to like the same movies, young or old, that's all. Merry Christmas to you too Michael :)

I don't enjoy Miracle on 34th but just because something is old doesn't mean it's not worth a watch + commentary. One of my fav films of all time "A face in the crowd" I thought I wouldn't like because its black and white and from the 50s.

I have seen wonderful films from China, Japan etc I have seen several Mexican films like Los Olivados and Mariposas Negras I don't have that sickness that has enveloped many races and ethnicities. Rio so this talk of age and selecting films took a turn here where because you grew up in Detroit A Christmas Story wasn't relatable to you. The whiteness turns you off. Remember, the way you have an ethnicity and another language the same with many other ethnics who are white. I grew up in NYC in an apartment for my first 18 years a neighborhood of Spanish, Greek, Dominican, Irish. I not relatable to those in that movie they being sterile non ethnic white in the suburbs. While I am an ethnic White still can watch that well made movie. Gremlins is relatable to you huh? Also I look younger than I am and think it's great.

Same here, Rio. I don't look my age either, my son is actually 25 himself! Its not the be all and end all, its just a movie and a poll, one out of many they'll do. I just felt the need to speak up because age has nothing to do with it imo. We all just like diverse stuff. And I'd never tell anyone what to and what not to like. I share some of the same sentiments you do only I would never say it the way you are. I think we should all have respect for each other. Here in this community have not be agist I'm 43 years old and you would never know it. People treat me like I'm in my 20s everyday because I look very young. I would imagine you would be the same to me. But I never let it get me down. And I never have preconceived notions about people just because of their age and you shouldn't either. Everybody likes what they like and there's nothing you can do about it. You just have to accept it. Elf is a terrible movie in my opinion and I don't understand how people think Will Ferrell is funny but I understand they do and it's all that matters. I voted Gremlins because I don't think a Christmas story is a very good film either. Growing up in Detroit I find very little in common with the quote suburban white family with money. So to me a Christmas story just isn't relatable. But that's just my opinion.

Classic movies are classic for a reason. Those classics shouldn't be lost, and there's a helluva lot of good movies pre-1995. Hence the ridiculous remakes now, (which are mostly bad imo) there's just a very rare good one, not often, but, I didn't see that comment though. The original Miracle on 34th Street had great actors and a great director, superior. A Christmas Story became so beloved some cable channels played this movie 24 hours. But the way things are going TODAY these films are too white. So it's better to combine cartoon puppets shows like Rudolph, Frosty, Santa Coming to Town.

Yeah, I heard the same thing. Never seen it before until a few weeks ago, when someone else reacted to it. It was the worst Christmas movie I have ever seen, was hard to get through. Unless your a American who has grew up with this as a family tradition and brings back the memories of Christmas time, then not sure how much you will enjoy it. that is the only reason why I see it as so popular in the chat and polls. I vote to only allow those who are over 40yrs old to vote in polls, younger than that lack the knowledge/experience to make a fair choice. This will improve the quality of future films we all watch. Elf is not in the same league as A Christmas Story.
