A Christmas Carol (2009)

Comments

This is a poor interpretation of the classic. Disney watered it down and ruined it. The best version by far is the George C. Scott one from 1982

Daufhin Thorndike

Lol I didn't know about Fonzie's! Sims is my fave, but there's so many likeable ones, you're right, George. You can't say that about many remakes of movies. Two others I can, imo is Wuthering Heights. Or Jane Eyre.

SilverDoe🎔

People with loved ones and hard earned money is wonderful, to shower them and others is a blessing. I seem to love many Christmas Carols. Sims, Finney and even the older ones work for me. Even Fonzies I enjoyed.

George Bakis

That would be Gary Oldman and I didn't even recognize the voice or look at the credits for that matter lol. All Three Ghost were played by Jim Carrey so Bob could of been played by anyone. I'll have to look it up.

Clockwork360

I know. Remember when they used to make faithful adaptations that weren't written in the same amount of time for my groceries to arrive via instacart. But if they do Percy Jackson and Eragon right, since they are taking a lot of time with them, I could be convinced that they have a future. But I won't forgive them if they screw it up.

Radiodanoo

Never heard of that one, I will have to look it up. Thanks!

Carl 🐉

If You wanna see the best rendition in my opinion gotta watch the one with Bill Murray

Nizate

the pot of something you saw Scrooge heating at the beginning is gruel, a variant of oatmeal or porridge that was served in the time that you were sick or in need of some quick dining Since Scrooge was elderly, he was using it to help him sleep I guess

Karl Kraus

Thanks. I watch a couple of other movie reactors too so maybe I forgot they did it......Happy Holidays

Teri

They have seen it's a Wonderful Life and its here on Patreon if you wanna look it up eh?? Merry Christmas!!

Lee Stephenson

I am enjoying this as I type the comment. Like some of the other comments I also enjoy the 1951 version (classic) but I guess you may have seen it in school or something. I still recommend the movie It's a wonderful Life, (if you have never seen it). The messages of these movies are all the same Love & kindness conquers all. Life happens but while you're living it you'll get through whatever "it" is if there is love and kindness in your life & I believe that as well.

Teri

Wow look at the movies Disney used to make. The good old days.

Karim

Great channel. When should we expect to see Dexter: New Blood. It is outstanding.

Jeff Swearingen

Yeah I am torn about the cartoon antics. I think it has its own charm but kind of derails from the seriousness of the story. Probably is better at keeping children entertained I suppose? And Bob was voiced by the same actor as the one playing Commissioner Gordon in the Dark Knight Trilogy. Not sure if he did anything in the Lord of the Rings saga, tbh

video player doesn't exist on my end you guys

Karl Kraus

video file does not exist?

Kevin Przy

Here's some behind the scene video of the motion capture used to make the movie. The cool thing with motion capture is that other people can be in front of the cameras and not be in the scene. The computer only picks up the actors that have the motion capture suits on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qC_3zkd5ZQ

Larry Smith

Interesting cast. Bob seemed to be played by a hobbit and the third ghost looked a lot like Darth Vader when he was watching Scrooge falling down into the grave. The 1951 version is the best, but at least this one was very faithful to the text of the book despite the excessive cartoon mayhem.

Mr Jackpots

Great reaction, guys! Now do The Ref (1994)!

nick payne

I love anime too - so, I hear you. I'll watch, as I said, the 1951 one with my son Xmas day as always lol. Thank you for requesting it :)

SilverDoe🎔

Thank you Asia and BJ - Loved your reactions to this. You're right. Its so easy to forget....Money isn't everything! Family and loved ones are. Definitely watch it with the kids! Merry Christmas, and thank you for all you do and all the smiles :)

SilverDoe🎔

Carl, have you seen A Christmas Carol goes wrong? you should add that to your collection if you haven't already haha

Radiodanoo

Thank you and I agree, the 1951 version IS really good, but I am a sucker for really good animation.

Radiodanoo

I did actually lol - I've not seen that one in forever!

SilverDoe🎔

Wait until you hit your 50s😩

Carl 🐉

And don’t forget, George C Scott.😁

Carl 🐉

Jim Carrey 7 roles in this movie.

Carl 🐉

A Christmas Carol 1951 would have been worth watching, you couldn't pay me to watch this crap.

Michael Hartsell

Now you have to watch The Man Who Invented Christmas (2017)

Carl 🐉

The 1970 version with Albert Finney, is my 3rd favourite one tbh.

SilverDoe🎔

I think the 1938 version is my least favorite, but I have it also.

Carl 🐉

Fair enough lol. Yes and though I love him as an actor? Its not my fave. Its prob 4th on the list for me tbh. :)

SilverDoe🎔

It’s just OK, but I needed it for my collection!😆 I probably have about 10 versions of it at this point. Have you seen Patrick Stewart’s version?

Carl 🐉

I've never watched the Mr. Magoo one lol. Is it any good? My son loved the muppets Christmas carol, but as he's got older he likes the 1951 version too. We watch that every Christmas eve.

SilverDoe🎔

I was in my late teens or early 20s before I even knew what a Christmas Carol was. I was watching TV one Saturday and the Alastair Sim version came on after the movie I was watching ended. That’s how I was introduced to the whole thing, and now I probably own every version of a Christmas Carol ever made. It’s become an obsession! I even have the Flintstones, Muppets and Mr. Magoo versions!😜

Carl 🐉

Hahaha you're welcome as to the snowflake idea lol. And same, I watch it in black and white on YT if for convenience but, I do have it on DVD in colour too. I love Alistair Sim as him. I grew up watching the oldies with family members :) Zulu is another fave of mine.

SilverDoe🎔

Oh, and I’m stealing your snowflake idea too. What a great idea!❄️😁👍🏻

Carl 🐉

Same here. I thought the same thing when they reacted to The Grinch, that was 23 years ago. I was just sitting here like "So this is what being in the 40s feels like" lmao time sure flies man.

Darth Brooks

I absolutely love the 1951 version! I have it colorized on DVD.👍🏻

Carl 🐉

I saw it in the theater. Also, I can’t believe it was 14 years ago!😳

Carl 🐉

Thank you Asia, BJ and VIP requester. I love the 1951 version BUT love this one as well. I'm a happy lass :)

SilverDoe🎔

It's a Jim Carrey Christmas lol. Haven't seen this since it came out so I'm looking forward to remembering with y'all ✌❤ A&B fam!

Darth Brooks

Thanks Asia and BJ. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

JL Green

So glad you decided to do this one this year! The version with Patrick Stewart is also good, but my favorite will always be the Aliatair Sim version! I have it colorized on DVD. 🎄🎁👻
