First time watching. A hidden gem of a movie. Very interesting.

Dan Gershgol

Your pillow was lower.....lol. That's why you looked crooked.

Peir Fluellen

This was nuts!!! Haven't seen this before so it was a first for me too. Asia I think I jumped every single time you did...lol. Love you guys. Great movie and an even greater reaction. Yall are the best!

Heather C.

Oh my gosh! I can’t believe you did this movie! I saw it in the theater and I never understood why it wasn’t more popular. It’s so good - plus I think it was my first time seeing Chris Hemsworth in a role that wasn’t Thor. So many great actors in this film. Love your reaction!

Mary Merry Berry

You two are the first reactors I've ever seen who watched Bad Times at the El Royale, and I'm so glad you did! I've always thought this is an absolutely wonderful movie, and of course conspicuously influenced by Tarantino, with the odd characters, the sudden moments of violence, and the out-of-sequence presentation of the story, among other stylistic trademarks. The hotel itself is one of the creepiest settings I've ever seen outside a horror movie, and it works perfectly.

Richard Zinns

🙌🙌🙌 My first thought when I saw Chris Hemsworth "Asia will really want to bump Thor up the movie watch list." 😜 Very nice eye candy.

Stacey Capito

What did you think? Check out my response above. I liked it better watching it the second time.

Stacey Capito

Management was super lax.

Eric Reinert

I stayed there a couple nights back in '81. Fun history to go with fun Tahoe gambling!

Lori

There was a hotel named the CalNeva on the north side of Lake Tahoe that was in Nevada and California. It was bought by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sam Giancana in 1960. It’s had several owners over the years. There was actually a line that went through the hotel as a border between the 2 states and even the slot machines could only be on the Nevada side. The pool had a black line painted through it as well. It was where I spent my honeymoon in 1991.

Thanks guys im going to sit down and watch right now. I had a busy couple of days so i didnt have a chance. Ive seen this before and it was ok maybe i will like it more with your reaction going on at the same time. Thanks again.

Rio Mendoza

Can the vip suggest Dexter and Stranger Things?

SylMyl

The actor who plays the priest is Jeff Bridges. He was the dude in The Big Lebowski and he was also the main villain in Iron Man which you watched recently

Davey

It's a mix of a generational issues. JFK, Charles Manson, Priests and that issue, the racism in the 60s til now, Vietnam and PTSD. Solid movie, solid reaction. Love y'all ✌❤ fam! Watch those hotel mirrors lol.

Darth Brooks

The top candidates are jfk, mlk , or rfk

Breslin Howard

They never confirm it obviously but pretty sure all the evidence pointed to JFK being on the film

This was my second time watching and I caught so much more this time around. First, the casting was incredible. This was one of Cynthia Erivo's, Darlene in the movie, first films (more notable for Broadway at the time). She blew me away when she played Aretha Franklin in the TV series Genius, which they used Erivo's vocals for. Highly recommend that series. I also caught that the vacuum salesman, played by John Hamm, was actually an FBI agent working for J Edgar Hoover. If you want to understand more about that time in history, you should watch the movie J Edgar with Leonardo DiCaprio. It was likely a political figure or agency that owned El Royale, but that's just my assumption. BJ was correct that the FBI could be using the hotel to bait political figures or people of power to do bad things, then extort them. There was a mention that not all the bug devices found in the honeymoon suite belonged to the FBI... I'm assuming those belong to the owner of the hotel. As for who is in the film that was tossed in the fire, it could be any person of power from that time period... there are plenty to choose from. My personal opinion is that it was JFK and Marilyn Monroe. There were some photos of her on the walls and a mention of Kennedy at the beginning of the movie. Side Note: John Hamm is incredible in the TV series Mad Men. I think the reason they kept us guessing on who owned the hotel and what the FBI agent was up to specifically was to make us think about all the possibilities from that time period. There were political scandals with Nixon and Hoover, the effects of the Vietnam War, leader assassinations like MLK Jr and JFK, religious cult leaders preying on vulnerable communities, etc. The movie, through its characters, showed us the "bad" product of that time. Also, I there's a reason why the filmmaker's chose a hotel split down the middle. I'm guessing that they chose California because it's known as the land of milk and honey and Nevada because it has Sin City. The characters had to choose what side they wanted to be on, and chose Nevada (sin). Overall, I think the movie is constructed brilliantly. I like the brain teaser aspect of it, the character development, the throwback feel with the ambiguous time frame, and the acting was spot on.

Such a great and underrated movie. Was great watching it again with you guys. I'll try to help clarify a few things you guys asked about. The "vacuum salesman" worked for the FBI (why he called Mr Hoover...J. Edgar Hoover) and the FBI was also the management that Miles would send the video recordings to, except for that one where the guest was "nice to him". It doesn't actually say but based on the time period (Nixon being president and such), the guy on the film (who they comment was known by anybody if they saw him, and was dead, plus the fact that the FBI wanted to catch him at something) is teased as being John F Kennedy. At least that is how I always took it. Also the guy that shot "The Priest"'s brother at the beginning was most likely the new partner they had for the robbery since as you noted the brother let the guy in and turned his back on him like he knew him. Great movie selection for this one!

Daredevil is in the MCU now. He was in Spider-Man No Way Home and She-Hulk. And then he’ll have his own show/movies and whatnot down the road. Kingpin from the show was already featured in the Hawkeye series and will probably be in multiple other projects coming up. So, actually Daredevil is now directly associated with Marvel Studios.

Michael King

I'm just gonna say it-- I loveeee how Chris Hemsworth can't do up his shirt in this!!! I am sorry but Yowzaaaaaa!!! This is a good flick!!! I forgot how dope it is. I've seen it before and all my questions were answered with this second viewing. Nice request and reaction!!!----- Oh and Asia-- he plays Thor!! Yepppppp

Lee Stephenson

Any plans to continue the Star Wars prequels, looking forward to Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.

Booberry

Never seen this either. Ty guys, intrigued given the cast.

SilverDoe🎔

Cant wait for more Dexter :)

Brian Clancy

What's crazy, is that I know nothing about this movie. I had to look it up to find out what it's about. The only thing aside from the all star cast listing, including Jeff Bridges, that stood out, was the director's name Drew Goddard. He did the Daredevil netflix series that was a true standout show showcasing brilliant acting and fight scenes. It's an A+ R-Rated Marvel Series though not directly associated with Marvel Studios. After seeing that, I'm sure now this will be a good one.

Clockwork360

I forgot about this one this is a good one

Michelle C

Haven’t seen it. So I will be watching along with you.

Lola B

I honestly can't say that I've seen this or not. Either way it has an all star cast so I can't wait to dive in ✌❤ A&B fam!

Darth Brooks

Woo hoo! Excited to see this reaction.

Stacey Capito

Hi guys! What’s going on? Hope all is well.
