Frank Miller, the creator of 300, is a graphic novelist and artist par excellence. I highly encourage you to see his other comic book works come to life by watching, “Sin City.”

David Croft-Ogawa

guys you HAVE to watch the sequel, rise of an empire. its amazing

Taipan Tails

I know you guys watched this BEFORE you started Game of Thrones, but it's worth mentioning the actress who played Cersei in GoT is the wife of Leonidas in 300 (albeit she's not blonde in this movie).

Jason C

The Persians tried several times but even though they had some victories the Greeks were ultimately victorious. This was all around 500 AD.

Jason Augustine

This is based on an actual battle. Thermopoly

Great comment... Thank you

Gotta say, I've been watching yalls videos for a bit now and this is by far the cutest intro. You can really see that yall care deeply for each other and it's a beautiful thing... With that said, time to watch 300!!!

Logan Nelson

BJ, you need to do your radio voice a LOT more, it sounds great! Also, definitely check out the sequel. It's called 300: Rise of an Empire.

There's a city named Sparta in the USA. That can tell you which culture held off the other!

If you forgot the reason why they were laughing. When they cut off that one guy arm off with the whip. He told them that they will be rain on with arrows that blocks out the sun. The spartan replay was "I guess we will fight in the shade." so when the arrows were raining on them. One of them just realize they're in the shade so they were laughing at it lol.

Enjoyed watching with y’all. Never saw it before, but didn’t realize it was full of buff dudes fighting in speedos (which enjoyed very much lol).

Thank you so much Sean G!!

I enjoyed watching this movie in the theater and now watching it with ya'll. To me, the thing that makes a good movie is the story and how it is told. I think the story is good hear and the director Zach Snyder is very cinematic in the movies that he does and this one is no exception. Excellent reaction.

There are actually two silver linings in this movie (Referring to BJ's comment at the end). 1. Leonidas actually doing what he set out to do, which was to make a God King Bleed. Someone from Xerxes camp had to of seen this and that is the seed that begets the fall of a nation given enough time. 2. At the very end, while ambiguous, we are left with the notion that if Xerxes army could hardly handle 300 of Sparta's best solders, what would happen if they had to face a nation. Sure they were still out numbered, but if from several yards, to possibly a mile away, the GK could be hit by sheer will and made to bleed, then surely what comes next is a major risk. I actually read the battle of Thermopylae some years ago (Even before the second movie came out) And called it when I surmised that a whole movie could be made. The written story on the battle of Artemisium is so much more potent than the movie, but what separates it from the first 300 movie is that while yes the Spartan's hands down dominated on the land, the Athenians crushed it on the sea. The genius of Themistocles of Athens was his tactics and command of few ships versus the many coming from the Persians. Similar to the 300 except the difference, is that Themistocles is "the" reason the Persian's couldn't attack the 300 from the sea. I'm not 100% sure, maybe someone could chime in, but that scene that was made to look like the storm took out the Persian ships was actually the act of Themistocles and his ship linking battle tactics (From the written material not the second movie). I don't think they were planning a second movie at the time and just used the storm as an answer for what protected the 300 from attack from the sea. Nevertheless, after reading it, I was like Damn, this could be a whole movie in and of itself. A few years later 300 Rise of an Empire was made lol. Oh and just to add, I don't remember if they used the ship linking in the second movie, Its been years since I seen it and it just didn't hit like the first movie but not for a lack of trying.

Clockwork360

Based on a true story. Google Battle of Thermopylae.

TinCan Cosmanaut

There is a 2nd movie !

Vinh Tran

This is a great movie and a good adaptation of a true story. The movie was so awe inspiring on a big screen. The second movie provides the story of another element of this war that is not as well known. Not quite as good, but still a good movie.

Great reaction as always, it has you hooked from start to finish! The story teller? His name is David Wenham he's an amazing actor. He's in The lord of the rings and Van Helsing, with Hugh Jackman, and just recently? The Elvis movie. The Spartan's were feared because of their strength, but in some ways, because their pride, they were taught to have so early in age with their strength was eventually, their downfall even though they fought like heroes. The same however could be said, the Persian's arrogance was only backed up by their numbers and with the help of betrayal.... In 1955 a statue of Leonidas was erected by King Paul of Greece in commemoration of his and his troops’ bravery. The Crazy Spartan you like? That's Michael Fassbender. He's been in some amazing movies too - He's a young Magneto in The X-Men later movies, with Hugh Jackman too and James Mcavoy. He's such a good actor. As I said...Its a great cast!

I'm only about an hour in, but something I found really interesting is the second round of Persian soldiers were wearing Hannya masks... Its from Japanese culture and portrays the souls of women who have become demons due to obsession or jealousy... demonic and dangerous but also sorrowful and tormented, displaying the complexity of human emotions. When the actor looks straight ahead, the mask appears frightening and angry; when tilted slightly down, the face of the demon appears to be sorrowful, as though crying. Looked like the two swords worn on their back are similar to what Ninjas (secret agents) wore in feudal Japan. Both Persia and and Japan are in Asia, so it makes sense the "warrior" styles could cross, but the movie made it clear by the hannya mask that they were not of the earthly world... as if the Persian king was cherry picking warrior styles to figure out what would work against the Greek Spartans. Side note: during the fight scenes a lot of the aerial falls were based on traditional Japanese martial art techniques.

Hey Stacey!!! I think this one is a must see!!! We loved the message behind the meaning of “ no retreat and no surrender”!!!

Asia and BJ

I have not watched this one yet. I can handle scary movies, but war gore is tough for me to watch. It's it worth it?

Stacey Capito
