Prerelease tutorial! Hand-Illustrated effect in AE

Alright! New tutorial link for you guys… I’m excited about this one, thanks for your patience. It’s a very simple setup in After Effects to create this organic illustrated look:

I do spend a few extra minutes getting into the details of how and why it works - I’m hoping that’ll make it easy to get things up and running. On the Texturelabs page for the tutorial, I uploaded the full AE project from the video, but perhaps more useful is the stripped down AE project, which just contains the two adjustment layers with all the effects applied - could save a few minutes!

One more note - I hope you guys won’t mind, I may bend the rules a little bit and post the video to the public feed tomorrow. Perhaps a few of you also run YouTube channels and have noticed the the Ad rates are highly variable - they hit their very peak just before the holidays, then can take a nosedive at the beginning of the year. So, if I can try to cram for a few extra views this month, it’ll help with the old budget for the Texturelabs project here!

Hope you enjoy the video and all is well. More on the way!

Cheers,

Brady

Haha makes the world go round and so forth

hey man, all good. get that munnie.

Haha, awesome thank you! It’s funny, creating the tutorials has definitely made me notice the common thread in how I tend to approach things - manipulate an image/type, remap the values using threshold/hard mix/gradient map, then minor adjustments on the result. But pretend you didn’t hear that!

How the heck do you figure out these techniques. I mean, those many different effects. Just how? :D Amazing work by the way! Love all of it!
