well it wasnt shown in the manga but mentioned pretty detailed in the canon novel Itachi shinden. but yea, bro basically mercy killed his gf to give himself the resolve to slaughter his entire clan.

2025-03-08 10:14:18 +0000 UTCIt was really "cute" how they did it in the manga cause it wasnt obito who killed itachis gf but itachi put her in a really strong genjutsu where they lived a happy future with each other and died of old age and then killed her afterwards without her knowing which is also probably a good reason itachis practically blind afterwards since overuse of normal mangekyo results in blindness, idk why they changed it in the anime

They really were getting lazy at this point. Like you have all these filler arcs but they didn't feel like showing one of the most important moments that define Itachi's character? Just making him look like he cares even less about Izumi by letting Obito kill her. He killed his parents whom he loves even more.

Here, in anime they didn't want that sequence for whatever reason, so they had Obito to do it
