Well, if one of them WAS inspired by the other it was probably Oda, since Netero's ability was revealed first by a couple of years. Edit: Wow, looking more into it the fight with Meruem happened in the same month as this fight back in Jan of 2010. That was after a 1 year 1 month break for HxH. And I thought the blue-balling in the anime was bad lol.
