There was a very short brief manga page during that scene, that the anime skipped over. Basically saying that Gyro came back as a Chimera Ant and he was walking through the town where Gon and Killua were training. However, it also said that Gyro's resolve was so solid and evil that he came back looking like a normal human even though he was turned into a Chimera Ant. Its speculated by the community, that Gyro will be a villain later on in the series.
