This episode was mind-blowing, but not for the reasons you're likely thinking of! This was such a sweet, heartwarming episode, but all I can say is...this mangaka PLAYS THE LONG GAME. Y'all...I cannot believe we're still getting surprises like this in Season SEVEN. It's WILD.

At least when this series makes you cry - like you said - it’s from a place of good! The dragon showing up THAT early FLOORED me - this mangaka was PLANNING, and I live for it! Sweet, dear, Chobi - being an AMAZING dragon and still doubting themselves - you just want to give this mustachio’d dragon yokai a big hug! AND OF COURSE NATSUME THOUGHT OF TANUMA FIRST - sorry, didn’t mean to yell there! 😛 Thank you again, and ooooh, so ready for episode 6!

I’m really happy I’ve managed to follow this whole journey from the very beginning! 🥰 There’s been a lot of scheduled crying but the series draws it out from a healthy and empathetic place. Thank you for the investigation – amazing that the dragon appeared so early, I never noted this! I have the same interpretation as you noted in the discussion, that Chobi thought the previous shell was extraordinarily beautiful, worthy and unique – and his own not at all. I also like the way they did this in the dub, where he asks Natsume: “You really think this is beautiful?” And, of course, Natsume’s first thought was that he wished Tanuma could have seen this. 🥰 Looking forward to next week! 💙
