This second OVA turning out to be an extension of Season 3 was not on my Natsume BINGO card, but here we are! Nyanko-sensei goes off without Natsume and our lad finds himself stuck in a deadly game...of hide and seek? How's he going to get out of this?
This was a great episode and now we're one week closer to SEASON 6!

I’m SO EXCITED for Season 6! Thank you for the comment and kind words! I’ve been so excited for the OVA’s because they’ve been such good quality in this series – “show has such confidence” - that’s such a good way to describe Natsume’s Book of Friends! I just love how the callbacks have extended THIS FAR in the series! The simplistic nature of the yokai was so perfect and fitting for the character - and yesss, agree on that astute part for sure! And yes, Natsume is such a tender human and I love that about him! I am SURE someone out there has compiled all of the Madara nicknames, but four-legged rice cake is definitely up there! I cannot WAIT for season 6 now!

The consistency and the depth are at an incredible standard. 🥰 Loved that the yokai really did just want to play hide and seek with someone who cared. The line that Natsume ‘looked with sorrow at my wounds’ to me is another example of yokai who are a lot more astute than a majority of the humans Natsume encounters. I agree with everything around that in the discussion – the relentless tenderness Natsume shows others is so admirable. I hope there is somewhere a compilation of all the things Madara gets called – my favourite in this ep was ‘four-legged rice cake.’ 😆 Looking forward to next week! 💙

It is Furoshiki, a square plane cloth that Nyanko sensei prepares for his banquet He wraps Sake, snack, and his Ochoko(cup) and carries his back Furoshiki is very handy. And Nyanko sensei forgets to bring it back😄 And yeah, this episode contains a lot of feelings. Humor, haunting, scary, empathy, mutual understanding, and simple joys. At the end of the day, dog circle is cute, Natsume has school friends, and Nyanko sensei is back. Strange and mysterious youkai remains his heart. And it flows. Just another day of Natsume
