Also in earlier thumbnails the house was more overgrown so it was totally fine that they were walking around in it, then I started transitioning into winter and realized it'd look cool if there were holes in the roof with snow coming through, and then kinda realized two very smart people would not be walking into a structure like this... It's okayyy, don't think about it too hard.....

My thinking is that he bought a ruined house for cheap and used his spells to "renovate" it; I figured he would have difficulty keeping a regular job, earning money, or purchasing property too close to others, since many consider him dangerous. He used less permanent magic, unlike Hannibal, who could leave his whole body behind and make a new one.
