I think I remember them saying that when she was gone, Reinhard was kidnapped? Not 100% sure. Definitely something from the older seasons. If he did get kidnapped, that could have triggered the transfer then.

2025-03-29 08:44:14 +0000 UTCWe learned that Reinhardt has the ability to wish for any blessing he desires, so it IS possible that when he was a kid he wished for the sword saint divine protection not understanding the consequences of his actions. That would explain better why he says he killed her and why his father said he stole the divine protection.

And him essentially ruining his relationship with his grandfather for the greater good really makes what Puck said about him in Season 2 standout. A hero is all he ever can be, he lacks friendships and real connections due to how absurdly powerful he is. He merely has allies and enemies like a hero would. (Aside from Subaru.)

2025-03-29 02:04:11 +0000 UTCAgree with yous completely, these are some of the best episodes this season - especially the animation of Garfiel vs Kurgen, absolutely beautiful yet brutal lol. I think it was Morgan who brought it up - but Heinkel is indeed, a very troubled man…there was some cut content - but you did wonder what happened to his wife. When Reinhard was 2 years old, she fell to a rare disease that put her in a state of ‘Sleeping Beauty’ - akin to Rem, where she’s frozen in time, forever asleep - but Gluttony was not involved with it. That was what started Heinkels descent into alcoholism, which was only spurred further with his Mothers death - which, it’s implied in the scene with Wilhelm’s dialogue, but it was Heinkel that was meant to fight the white whale, but he was too scared to do so, so asked his mother - under the premise that the Sword Saint was nearly unbeatable - to do so thinking she’d be safe…needless to say, it only made him spiral further. Also, fun fact, the Author of Re Zero recently did an interview on a radio show and stated that the reason Theresia lost her Sword Saint Divine Protection at that moment, was because Reinhard wished he had it right at that time, because he loved his father and wanted to protect him…keep in mind, he was like 5 and had no idea that he could get any divine protection he wanted by just asking at this moment, so we can’t blame him, but it does give a reason as to why he was *technically* responsible for his grandmothers death…it was actually Heinkel that stood up and stood by Reinhard when Wilhelm ostracised him, but, due to a number of other factors, the relationship between him and his son deteriorated…massively…honestly, a spin off show for the Astreas would be amazing xD Also, Wilhelm ending words to Reinhard were pretty much him disowning him - refusing to call him just by his name, just his official title as the Sword Saint. More or less Wilhelm saying ‘you’re no longer my grandson, you’re just the sword saint’…man, this family is just drama lmao.
