The “it was design choice”, where the writer drop the expected rules of character clothing and design to not bog down the story. Most people won’t obsess on that, but without spoiling the series does try to rationalize the genesis of newer generation of chimera ants; the clothing yes, but more specifically why they seem so proficient and knowledgeable in certain things, the references, etc.

2023-05-28 19:21:28 +0000 UTCJust like to add something about the chimera's clothes, I've always liked to think it's an artistic choice to draw all the characters with clothes on them instead of having grotesque naked amalgamation of animals walking around, I feel that would hinder some of the appeal from the storytelling he is tryna deliver. It's kind of how demon slayer doesn't really have all the special moves in them its just an artistic choice to show the different forms of swords.

2023-05-28 17:14:59 +0000 UTCI had a feeling Parker would feel this way- Gon and Killua are prodigies but they’re still very new to this world and practically speedrunning nen. Greed Island had characters ranging from hunters weaker than them to veterans like Bisky, a double-star hunter. They were still in the experimental phase at the end of Greed Island, so their nen techniques are still very much a WIP and now they’re up against these chimera soldiers gifted with all sorts of biological advantages & the ability to learn at an accelerated rate.

2023-05-28 17:03:04 +0000 UTCif you remember back to the tower arena arc gon and killuas teacher informed them that there were two ways to unlock nen, one through months of rigorous training, the other is to have your nen forcibly unlocked by a hostile nen attack. gon and killua have accidentally given the ant soldiers nen when they unleashed their abilities.
