Saw somewhere that they were planning on doing a filler backstory ep for Snake to clear up his origin. However, they chose not to because one of the directors did not feel he could do it justice. I do remember Snake mentioning that he was from Miklagard, which is pressent day Turkey and the sword he uses is the Turkish kilij. Although how he got from Turkey to Denmark will probably remain a mystery.
