The gun devil first appeared in the America but within a 5 minute time frame it made a series of attacks globally (they tried showing this with a series of different photos with ethnic backgrounds, also devil appeared in america but Aki's family was killed in japan). I don't remember how long it stayed in each country/region but some were as little as 15 seconds and others were over a minute. The total time it was around was 5 minutes where it killed 1.2 million so if my math is right it only needed a couple seconds to kill 10k+ people wherever it traveled. Makima states that the pieces of the gun devil (flesh) were burned off of it when it moved from location to location because of how fast it traveled. Those are the pieces they are now hunting down because a) other devils get stronger when they eat it and b) collect enough pieces and it might lead you to the main body. The pieces are all over the world but the main cast is currently collecting the ones in Japan.
