What's the point in being a teacher if you can't get someone to learn new ways of doing stuff, in this case new ways of using his quirk? Ways that don't hurt himself as much as the first time around. Doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result is the definition of insanity, and Aizawa prevented that by forcing Izuku to come up with another way to use his quirk to throw the ball. "Is he testing him?" I mean, that's kinda the point of this episode, is it not? All those activities are literally one big test, was kinda established in the beginning there.
