There is a storyline that you guys are missing. Art the Clown, the human, actually died in the first movie. He was then resurrected by a demon, which is why he seemingly can’t die and whatnot unless Sienna attacks him with her sword. This is because - like Johnathan told Sienna - it needs an evil individual to inhabit to be able to walk on earth. Hence, choosing such a person like Art. Now the little girl in the second movie is the demon itself. It took over the body of a girl that died at an amusement park where she first appears. And in the end credit scene of the 2 film, you see the demon taking over Vicky (a character from the first movie who had been attacked by art which is why she’s disfigured. She ended up in the psych ward after attacking a woman who had talked bad about how she looked). The bath tub scene is Vicky passing away, so the rest of the movie isn’t even her anymore as the demon has taken full control. The demon is essentially using Art and Vicky to get to Sienna because she is the demon’s rival, the Angel. She is the opposite force of good that is able to kill Art for good and cast out the demon. If the demon does get rid of Sienna, it will be able to throw off the balance and be unstoppable. Now we don’t have all of the answers yet, but Drew is right about the final showdown between Art and Sienna being in the next movie. Also in this movie in particular there is a lot of religious symbolism and talk of the balance between the forces of good and evil. For example in the scene with the Virgin Mary, she is keeping a demonic being in check as it creates the sword Sienna uses against Art. So yes, while the kills are very extreme, there is a story being told. Something the director, Damien mentioned was that he’s purposefully making it so extreme because he wants to push the boundaries of horror as far as he can go without actually crossing the line. For example, while there is child passings in the movie, you never actually see it and the child actors don’t have to act those scenes out at all due to it being off screen and the aftermath being practical effects. I actually had the pleasure of meeting both Damien and David, and it was a treat. Damien truly does have a passion for film making and purposefully didn’t give terrifier to a studio so he could do what he wanted without corporate censorship. Some fun facts is that Damien already has the entire story planned out and 4 will be the final movie. And David said that there’s one scene in the movie where he almost threw up filming it 😅😂
