March 2018 Sketch Dump

Good morning, $5+ patrons! Here's the sketch dump for March 2018! I actually have quite a few sketches this month. Some Vincent stuff and also my jackalope Blue who've I've been drawing a bit lately and trying to come up with some sort of story for. I'm trying to do some research on fantasy and magical creatures, but I'm having a hard time finding good resources. If you have any guide books to recommend (something like Brian Froud's Faeries but you know, more about magic creatures in general and not just faeries, haha) please let me know and I'll check it out!

Top left: A sleepy skunk cuddling up with his tail. I drew Vincent doing this once as a baby too, it'd probably be safe to assume he still does this. :)

Below: The preliminary sketch for my Metal Skunks drawing. I posted a pic of it earlier but this is a better scanned version.

Next row left: 1980's work out Vincent. I think I was watching a review for the original 80's Troll film and someone was wearing one of these sort of outfits so I decided to draw Vincent in one. I posted a pic of it previously, but this is a nicer scanned version. :) Fun fact: I lost a follower immediately after posting this on Tumblr... so this drawing may be too scandalous for some...

Same row right: The preliminary sketch used for this. I do still like that Blue was holding a mug of something in the sketch, though I omitted that detail in the finished drawing(s).

Next row left: Blue when he was a baby bun in his bunny form.

Middle: Young Blue reaching for an apple.

Right: Just a sketch of Blue's face from the front. After posting this drawing of Blue as a kid, I had a few people tell me they didn't realize he had different colored eyes, so I think I might ink and color this picture of his face and see if I can make it a little more obvious, haha. 

Next row left: Blue in his bunny form having a tummy ache or something, haha.

Middle: I was just playing around with poses, so I drew Blue holding his foot for no reason. Maybe he's looking at the bottom of it or something like that. 

Right: Blue with a hummingbird on his antlers.

Bottom sketches: From the start, I wanted to include a unicorn character in Blue's story so I finally did some sketches of them. I think these came out pretty good for what I had in mind for the character. I wanted them to appear sort of gender neutral. I was thinking they have some sort of scar/eye damage, so they wear their hair over one eye. I like the idea of the curved horn over the more common straight horn. I also have a preference for the more lion-like tail. I added a few hair elements on their arms and feet, I need some practice drawing those hoof kind of legs too.
