2023-04-25 09:27:29 +0000 UTCI won't say the details, but to answer your question about fusion combinations mattering, there is a part in the show where we see a fusion involving a fusion and a single gem that is the same regardless of them being separated or fused. In the end, it's still the same combination! Think of it like a math problem, an equation. Garnet = Ruby + Sapphire, like... 1 + 3 = 4. 4 + 5 is 9, just like how 1 + 3 + 5 is 9. It's all a matter of perspective really

Garnet as a fusion only has 2 components, and both get along with each other, so her fusion looks and acts very rational. However, if there are more parts and/or they don't get along, a fusion can become monstrous. Ergo...what you see at the very end of the episode. The creators of this show also take liberties with the characterization of fusions. Each character has certain instruments almost reserved to their themes (Steven has chip tunes/8bit, Pearl has piano, Amethyst typically has drums with a quiet bass-line, and Garnet has a fusion of a bass and a synth pad. Flashbacks when we get to see Rose even have Strings) and if you go back to the episodes that Opal (the Giant woman of Pearl & Amethyst) or Sugilite (Garnet & Amethyst), you can hear that the background music only includes their designated instruments. Opal has a bunch of piano chords and arpeggios, as well as drums, while Sugilite had some really intense drums, bass and synth pads. Even in this newer fusion's appearance at the end of Season 1, we already learn a lot with their theme in the background. The chords, bass, and drums are all somewhat out of sync, and the time signature isn't even like what we hear in most pop songs. It's this really off-putting 7/8 time signature, to where the listener will always want to hear that extra beat, that will never come. It's suppose to give this unsettling and uneasy feeling. It's a really clever part of this show's characterization that I really like!!

So if garnet unfused and ruby fused with amethyst we’d get a new fusion but if that fusion fused with sapphire we’d get the sugalite we saw because of the personalities and relationships involved.

2023-02-24 23:50:55 +0000 UTCto answers your questions... yes, there can be fusions of more than 2 gems... as we already saw with Opal (Pearl and Amethyst) and Sugalite (Garnet and Amethyst), and also just to clarify... every fusion makes a new gem... not "giant woman" or "SUGARlite". the only exception to this is obviously Stevonnie since Connie is a human and Steven is a hybrid. secondly... if for example Garnet were to defuse and then Ruby alone fuses with Amethyst... that fusion would definetly be different, BUT if Sapphire decides to join in while Ruby and Amethyst are still fused... then they would just transform into Sugalite. thirdly.... in these two episodes Jasper actually says "i fought against your armies, i respected your tactics" based on that dialogue im pretty sure that she never actually met rose Quartz in person and therefore she couldn't have had a duel with her. Her anger against Steven and Garnet must be more related to the fact that from Her perspective Rose somehow shapeshifted into a human and made herself weaker. and with Garnet she must simply have the "Warrior's Pride" type of personality and therefore she despises the notion of two weaker gems fusing and beating her. one last thing... this is the first time you hear the outro song with lyrics (and no, it's not steven's voice, it's actually the voice of the creator of the show herself... Rebecca Sugar) so i recommend you guys to listen to it from now on because that has some significance as well.

2023-02-24 23:16:34 +0000 UTCnot really, if we go with the original order that the series was released then the only season with an "Odd" finale is Season 2, every other seasons have very catartic finale's in my opinion. but if we go for Production order then we would only have 3 seasons in total, that's why season 2 ended in such a regular episode, because from a production point of view... that episode was only the mid-season finale of season 2, and therefore season 4 and 5 would be season 3.

On the "is there a movie?", there is Steven Universe The Movie which comes between the finale in season 5 and before Steven Universe Future. There are also a series of about a dozen youtube shorts the show crew put out. The first half being clear to watch about halfway through season 2, the second half near the start of season 4 iirc. Love your reactions so dang much, you guys are awesome!

She can only see futures based on information that she possesses she had 0 idea that the gem destabilizer existed so future vision couldn't see it nor would she have the ability to look into the future to see that scenario play out to avoid it.

I kinda think of it as a really good statistical modeller, it can create a model of what is most likely to happen with the data she has but if it involves outside data she knows nothing about like unknown gems with unknown gem tech she can be blindsided.

And yes the Steven Universe Movie takes place after season 5 and before the epilogue series Steven Universe Future so you would need to watch it after the finale of the original series. It is 100% canon and contains many important details for the epilogue series.

Jailbreak really was a "you had to be there" episode, Garnet being a fusion was a such big theory for a long time (pretty much since fusion was introduced iirc) so to see it finally confirmed was insane. No Gravity Falls spoilers for Boom but this episode also came out the same week a big Gravity Falls theory was also confirmed so you can imagine what the internet was like at the time.

2023-02-24 20:08:47 +0000 UTCThe Ruby/Sapphire stuff was a debate for a LONG time because people argued whether they were actually together or just "really good friends" this gets answered more clearly later on (won't spoil how or the result). Strong Than You (Garnet's song) is kind of the beginning for the more powerful songs of the show. There's some REALLY good music in the show. The song at the end was actually sung by Rebecca Sugar! The creator of the show. Fun fact, their younger brother's name is Steven, hence where Steven's name came from. They apparently based a lot of Steven's personality off their brother.

2023-02-24 20:01:39 +0000 UTCpersonally i think when gems fuse, no matter the order, the result will be the same if their components are the same. i.e. if pearl were to fuse with sugilite, it would be the same if amethyst, pearl, and garnet, fused, resulting in alexandrite. i remember one of the writers confirming this on twitter at one point, but the tweet seems to have been deleted. it said something like "1+1+1=3 and 1+2=3"

For example she doesn't see futures with Steven's new powers, or with the destabiliser. (She hadn't seen the technology so didn't know what it did. As far as Garnet's concerned it could have been ANYONE arriving with her and she could have also shown up alone with an army of Robonoids there was just no telling

There are millions of possibilities for the future and Garnet can influence certain outcomes to be more likely than others or account and prepare for ones she can't avoid. But she doesn't know what's going to happen for sure always. And she can't see a future that only happens because she can see possible gutures (hence actually having to find a way to receive the message instead of just looking into a possible future where they got it and using that knowledge).

Also Garnet’s future vision is possbilities, she sees the probabilities of outcomes, it doesn’t make her omniscient. When she needs to find someone for instance, she focuses and looks through the possibilities for futures where she finds them. She doesn’t just know things, she has to actively look.
