You guys always talk about how the big 3 influenced this series but totally missed Katara saying 'earthbending style' which was supposed to parody how Naruto characters do elemental jitsu :D the creators cite Ghibli/Miyazaki films as the series biggest anime influence though

By the way, the Series finale of Book 3 is actually 4 episodes, but is for some stupid reason labeled as a single 4-parter. It originally aired as two hour-long 2-parters, but it is still comprised of four 30-minute episodes. There are 64 individual episodes in total, but Netflix stupidly combines certain 2-parters and fucks up the episode counts. The finale of Book 3 is comprised of episodes 18-20.

No the movies we were talking about are 100% ATLA. “Now, in a new deal between Paramount and Nickelodeon, the duo is back again with three new animated movies about three beloved Avatar characters.” there’s more you can look up, there’s not much information as of now outside of that they’re planned

You guys are mixing up Avatar (the blue people movie by James Cameron) and ATLA. Netflix is making a live action series of ATLA and there are some other things in the works, but the movies you looked up coming out the next couple years are the James Cameron movies :)

So a clarification for yall, in terms of episode count, there were originally 61, 20 in book 1, 20 in book 2, and 21 in book 3, but some episodes are labeled as multiple parts, and Netflix just combined those. Plus korra, the comics, the new animated show being made, and the animated movies that are planned, yall got pleeeenty if avatar content left to go

I mean even if the Fire Nation did recruit them in the army, they dont need that as a reason to tax the cities. They dont just burn and leave, they concuer and colonize. And to fund new expansion they need more tax. Its based on real world tactics.

I think they thought that Omashu was the earth kingdom. Omashu is just a city. The earth kingdom is super large.

Avatar does get into some pretty serious subjects. Honestly if this show hadn't aired I wouldn't be into animation as I am today.

Feel like this is the episode most f'd up in the live action film. Yeah a lot get skipped but by not skipping this and doing what they do, purposely being vague, it is so bad that it fumbles this episode super hard.

Its important to note while the fire nation is winning the war they do not have control of everything like Bumis kingdom. Also all the benders aren’t concentrated into one kingdom for each element the villages are more spread out.

Yeah for some reason Netflix lists several of the 2 parters and the 4 part finale as one episode instead of separating them. It should be 20/20/21

This is the perfect place to keep Earthbenders prisoner, props to the show for thinking things through. I mean, could you imagine if they just had the prison be some giant quarry and all the Earthbenders just, decided to be good and not fight back? hehehehe that would be stupid....
And there are 61 episodes in total if things are broken up into 22 min chunks. The list Rough looked at had the last two episodes of Season 2 as one double length episode, and grouped some of the season 3 eps together because they are designed more like extra long episodes then regular multiparters. The finale is essentially a two hour movie that can be broken up into four half hour (with ads) segments for airing on TV.

The netflix show is happening.
The movies and what not are from Avatar Studios that is founded by the original creators of this, Mike & Brian.
They left the production of the live action so there are mixed feelings on how it will turn out but everything from Avatar Studio should be bangers.
