As of filming this, Jen has already seen Spider-man 2, so I decided to show her the trailer for Spider-man No Way Home.

Y'all should really watch this video! It may help with understanding the difference between timelines and universes, which may help understand what's going on a little. haha. https://youtu.be/pM7aMaZB4W8

Into the Spider verse was a great movie... I'm still surprised Sony didn't fuck it up....And I read all the spiderverse comics.... A lot of gimmick but no substance and that's how you can do a spider verse movie that is everything but a spiderman centric movie. I'm not saying that the movie will be bad, (haven't seen it, don't know) but I feel that everything everyone is hyped about is what makes me fear that it coul be bad. Spiderman is an amazing character, stay true to the character and you can do a great movie without all this gimmicky things. I mean Molina was a great Dr Octopus but all the hype is about the "oooohhh he plays the same guy than in this other movie" and not about his qualities as an actor.

Tithann

Into the spider verse proved this can work. I dont see how you can get a more spiderman centric movie than a spider verse film.

Okay... So the multiverse is so easy to understand but is so hard to explain ...

Tithann

Holden, don't fear about no retcon. Look at it that way : in the MCu there is a Spider-Man that looks like the actor Tom Holland in our universe. In another universe there was a Spider-Man that looked like Tobey McGuire and another one who looked like Andrew Garfield... But there are probably other universes where Spider-Man looks like Tobey McGuire or Andrew Garfield. Heck, there's probably at least one universe where Spider-Man looks like Holden Hardman ! What I'm trying to say is that there will be no retcon because those characters will be from universes very similar to what we saw in previous films but with maybe a minor difference. Heck recently you have seen a series with multiple versions of Loki. There was even a Crocodile Loki ! And also another Loki that looked like Tom Hiddelston. Also the Loki that we followed in that series was NOt the Loki of the main MCU universe (because that one died at the beginning of Infinity War)... It's the beauty of the multiverse, there's an infinity of universes and therefore everything is possible. I imagine that in another universe I make videos on Youtube and you are one of my patrons :D

Tithann

I, for one, am not very hyped about this movie.... All the vilains, all the characters, all the cameos, all the spider-verse stuff and Judging by the trailer it looks a lot like kid Tom Holland' Spider-man is gonna follow his new daddy Dr Strange now that is previous daddy is gone. My instincts tell me that I would prefer a spider-man movie more spider-man centric but I feel that all the hype revolves around the multiversy stuff which to me could be what makes the movie bad... Too much of everything like Spider-Man 3 back in the day. But Marvel as proved several times that they know how to handle those things. On the other hand Sony has proved often and again that they're very bad at it... So we'll see, I guess :D

Tithann

I know you are already swamped with things to watch but I think that Into the Spiderverse would help Jen get a better grasp on the Multiverse thing. Great job guys.

There's something very objectively wrong with how you think of this. Like actually. Not a subjective opinion of Marvel copying DC here. Marvel factually didn't look over and change all their plans. You can think that. Just know it's wrong. There's nothing funny about the way you think of this situation. It makes you come off as very illogical. Just cause I said it's a dumb way of thinking about it you pussied out? Man your'e soft. What is combative about this? Nothing. I explained it pretty casually. Stop being offended by me saying what you said isn't funny.

-sigh- I see you’re one of those type of people. Have to devalue someone else’s viewpoint just to validate your own…especially when said viewpoint is meant to be humorous & not to be taken seriously. That’s cool. You do you. I won’t respond to you any further though since it’s obvious that even when I very nicely explained it to you as I would to a child you still feel the need to lay down the “NO! YOU’RE WRONG! THIS IS THE WAY IT IS! YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT!” Hammer. I only converse with people who are able to express their opinions in a respectful, civilized manner & not in an arrogant, combative manner. Good day.

That's a very dumb way to look at it. Spider-Man 3 was likely going to be multiverse way before it was said that Keaton was in Flash. They were in pre production the whole pandemic. It's not like they heard Keaton was in flash and decided to rewrite the entire movie for Spiderverse. If anything DC is trying to catch up to marvel. They failed with Justice League being their Avengers. They took some time off and now they are trying to catch up again. Short cut to multiverse without establishing Flash.

Jamie Tartt

Again, statement was made in jest. I think I explained my thoughts pretty well. But to explain it more simply…the joke going on in my head is like this: Disney/Marvel exec 1: “Did you hear? DC is trying to copy us again. They’re going to a movie that introduces the multi-verse as a way to explain their screwed up continuity. Also, they’re bringing back Michael Keaton as Batman to try to help sell the movie.” Disney/Marvel exec 2: “LOL. Oh yeah? Let’s see if we can do better and show them up again. Hey you, get Sony on the line. Let’s see if we can get Tobey McGuire and Andrew Garfield back. We’ll show those hacks at DC what a real multi-verse movie looks like.” Once again, I know that Disney/Marvel was working on the multi-verse first. And again, that’s why I worded my statement the way I did. To indicate that “this is a humorous thing I find about this situation”. Never have I said or implied that “this is for sure why this is happening”. This is what I THINK this is & this is how I feel about it.

How is it their answer?

Jamie Tartt

I didn’t say that this was Disney/Marvel answering DC’s Flash movie. I said that I FEEL LIKE this is Disney/Marvel’s answer to the DC Flash movie. Meaning that it’s a feeling, speculation, hypothesis, guess on my part with no actual proof. I always say exactly what I mean. I don’t believe in coincidences and the fact that both companies are doing the same thing around the same time, to me is hilarious because as I said, I can see Marvel/Disney laughing at DC. Even so, my statement was made in jest. That part of my statement anyway. I was dead serious on my feelings about DC movies. Since you mentioned it, I’m not too excited about Supergirl. I’ve already seen the costume & I really don’t like it. Not only that, but I’m not a fan of the casting choice. I’ll probably watch the movie at some point but I’m not paying for a ticket to the theater to see it.

Holden you need to remember that there are infinite universes. There are even infinite universes of Tobey Maguire Spider-Man. Judging from designs Electro isn't Blue. He's yellow here. It doesn't seem that he is THAT EXACT version we saw of him in TASM2. Dafoe's Goblin also has a new look with purple in the costume. Honestly Tobey and Andrew Spider-Man aren't going to be exact versions we saw in their movies. Just pretty close versions. In no way should that ruin any arcs in those movies.

Jamie Tartt

You do realize Marvel has a show airing right now that is about the multiverse. Loki just popped that wide open. NWH is coming nearly 11 months before Flash and Doctor Strange 2 is also out 8 months before Flash. Marvel isn't answering DC's Flash movie. I agree with you in that I also despise Ezra Miller as Flash. Terrible casting by Snyder. Only reason the movie is on my radar still is cause of Keaton Bat-Man and Supergirl.

Jamie Tartt

I too am very excited for No Way Home. Funny how the title of each movie has the word home in it. I wonder why. Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock was one of the few things I liked about the Raimi Trilogy so it’s nice to see him return. I really do hope that McGuire and Garfield do appear in the movie because I always liked Garfield’s Spidey more than McGuire’s and I feel like he needs another shot to show how good he is. One thing dawned on me though. I feel like this is Marvel/Disney’s answer to DC’s upcoming Flash movie. I can see them saying “Oh, you’re doing a multi-verse? We can do it better.” That’s fine because as much as I loved Michael Keaton’s Batman I have absolutely no faith in DC. It’s sad because comic-wise I always liked DC more. But when it came to the movies DC did such a piss poor job with their movies that whenever they announce one I scoff…even something as supposedly grand as what they’re doing in the next Flash movie. Doesn’t help that I completely hate Ezra Miller’s Flash either. With that said, I’m totally excited for No Way Home because Marvel/Disney have proven that they know how to make a good movie. Every single movie in the MCU has been fantastic & I’ve loved them all.

They just need to make Sherlock canon now and I’ll be a happy man

Adam kronk

So I am only 7 minutes into the video, and I have to say that Holden and Jenn both freaking out about Doc Ock is one of the cutest things ever
