(first time viewer) the king's birth terrified me 😭 also omg. even tho the ants are ~our enemy~ i really liked peggy and colt so peggy's death shocked me so bad WHY DID THEY HAVE TO KILL THE ANT THAT I LIKED THE MOSTTTTTT WHYYYYYYY. i was assuming that gon was gonna convince the ants that humans and the chimera ants could live in the same world but in peace. or something like that. and offer some type of peace treaty idk. so i thought we would see get to colt, peggy, and the other nice ants continue to live on at the end of this arc. ughhhhhhh peggy 😭💔 im with you jared, i also have a feeling that knuckle and shoot are gonna die 😞 they do seem significantly stronger than gon and killua, but they dont seem like theyre as strong as netero. and even i feel like netero is in danger when it comes to these ants... ugh im so scared for them. i really liked knuckle.. i have a prediction that the little purple pink cat on gon's shoulder that is restricting his nen will disappear before the 30 days when knuckle dies and that will motivate gon to go back to fight against the ants.

2024-12-19 10:39:19 +0000 UTCyep, also he is just a newborn (not when it come to mentality or power but in term of experience, he doesnt have any yet) remind me of under 5y/old children who crush ant or other insect just because they can do it and want to at the moment, they dont know any better yet, the king have the same behavior, he act on instinct and do thing just because he can and want to do it at the moment, he feel angry he eat the first thing he see... for the malicious human part, he may have some of the underground NGL adn in him, but given the fact the queen was eaten 150-200 human/day for a long time way after the dark side of the NGL was wiped out, i believe the officer and royal guard have more of this "evil poeple" gene in them since the queen started to prepar for the King after given birth to the royal guard, i dont think they was any of the underground NGL poeple in their reserv of food left, so the king mostly have normal citizen in him, the queen had easily eaten more than a thousand civilian + some hunter (A.K.A rare food) while she was nourishing the King, but a newborn, even human dont have any concept of good or evil or any morality either, these concept are not "naural" their are made up concept (important concept yes, but still completly man made) so they have to be learn, instinct will only push you to do what best for ur survival, not thinking about moral or esle.

I would think if she was reborn in her own ant the show would've given some sign right? I thought maybe she was reborn as the first royal guard but that wouldn't make sense since so many humans were eaten by that time and many ants had been born between Reina being eaten and pitou being born

I think that is a very common behavior. Don't disagree with what you're saying at all. I just want to add my though. And I do eat animals. I also feel so weird about that part of myself as I am being a good, normal person but also super cruel.

It instilled this sadistic essence in me and I knew I recognized the voice from somewhere. I found out that the same person who voices the King is the same person who voices Kang Taeshik in Solo Leveling. Kôki Uchiyama. This was that one guy who killed those prisoners in the dungeon for fun. This is one of the most incredible voice actors I've ever heard and he played the king long before voicing that character in Solo Leveling! Yall should be able to watch the intro now after this, things are about to get heavy.

2024-10-19 03:42:47 +0000 UTCHey J&J this episode definitely set up a clear image of things to come: Firstly, the king being born and being so ruthless and just plain disgusting at points is just a side effect of the queen eating all the humans, rare or not these are human emotions and behaviors, they saw the power and went for it, without thinking about this side that will occur, it started with them wanting names and now they have a king that cares for no other being than himself, it's beautifully written to show the ugly side of humans Also, seeing Gon so frustrated at him feeling so weak when EVERYONE watching knows he is strong, he's still a child and has so much to learn, this is just a lesson for them both to learn Killua's eyes had so much sadness behind them from seeing how he fought to Bisky's words to him is just pure pain, ugh the tears just going down as he's watching Gon cry is just the most depressing thing ever, and to top it off his words at the end just show that he fully believes that he can't help go against the way he was taught to fight, he needs Gon to help him once more and be that light for him One last thing yes that was Peggy's foot the king nibbled on, man this show just makes me so emotional in the best of ways and I can't wait for the next few episodes

One, due to the evil humans (and predatory animals) that have been consumed to birth him, the King has an innate biological and instinctual preference towards malevolence. This is the instinct that he was born with. He is the apex predator of apex predators. Two, the structure of Chimera Ants society places him as the King of their species. The Queen doesn’t necessarily serve as a mother for the King, but as a means to an end. As shown in a previous episode, as soon as the King is born, the royal guard shift under him and he “leaves the nest”. Beyond that, from the standpoint of the King being the evolutionary apex of his species, the Queen serves no further purpose. From the standpoint of the squadron leaders like Colt and others under them, the Queen is their permanent ruler. As long as she’s alive of course. As shown in the episode and many before hand, the consumption of humans had led to disobedience and disorder amongst most of the ants. Human DNA has led to the ants being a lot more individually motivated. The Queen’s injuries severed their final attachment to the Queen. In all honesty, they needed little excuse to leave the nest. This wasn’t the case for someone like Colt, and a few others who are much more attached to the Queen. Their human DNA hasn’t manifested as selfishness like the others have. Third, the King has been born in a manner that’s slightly different than all the other ants. The ants before him, even the Queen, had someone higher on the totem pole that they were bound by birth and also by instinct to serve. The King serves no one. Thus, the absence of someone higher on the totem pole means he has a much more malleable direction in which he can lead his future Kingdom. The Kingdom the King builds will be the one that he personally sees fit to build and no one else. That is entirely dependent on what kind of King he becomes. His first appearance leads one to believe that it will be a cruel one.

2024-10-18 22:57:30 +0000 UTCJust wanted to comment on what bisky said to killua couple episodes ago, I don't think she meant he would definitely leave gon to die one day, I think she was warning killua that if he doesn't change his fighting style ( the way he was taught to escape instead of fighting people he sees as stronger) that his cursed habit will cause him to choose escaping a fight and potentially leave gon behind to die

This happened before the NGL Underground started fighting back and also being eaten. So this is likely a big reason that Colt seems to have much more humanity than the other ants, because the sinister personalities of the NGL Underground members weren’t polluting the gene pool yet.
