JJK 2x5 REACTION!! *SURPRISE DROP*

Comments

The backstories of Geto and Gojo really show how the loneliest and the most broken of people are the ones who appears to always be happy and smiling, of course im not generalizing but it is true even in the real world. If you noticed, Geto wasn't as lively and goofy when he was with Gojo. He was happy but was more composed and put together, like Megumi. However, after being depressed & eventually becoming evil, he then became more outrageous, bold and expressive....he's even depicted to have a permanent smile on his face every time we see him now. As for Gojo, he was already unruly and mischievous in the beginning, but in a teenager/rebel kind of way...then after all the unfortunate events and subsequent loss of his one and only friend, its like he became even more loud, unpredictable, and over-the-top with his decisions and actions...it seems to me that he's just masking his own sadness and guilt with his overly excited attitude now. I feel really sad for Geto tbh, he was in a really bad head space and that talk with Yuki was what eventually gave him the idea to eradicate non-sorcerers.

Idk if you guys noticed this detail but when Geto is in the bathroom you can hear the water hitting the ground turn into the sound of clapping. Also when he is talking to the girl with blonde hair and it starts raining, it really shows geto having a hard time after having that convo with gojo maybe shifting his perspective on how he shouldn’t kill and how there has to be a point to kill non sorcerers

Joyboy-

It was a throwaway quote in the movie, but during the geto vs. Yuta fight, geto said that there were only 4 special grade cursed sorcerers. Amd now we have seen them all. 1. Satoru Gojo 2. Suguru Geto 3. Yuki Tsukomo 4. Yuta Okkotsu

Yall finally watched the infamous KFC breakup! One of the stores behind Geto when Gojo confronts him looks like a KFC lol. Idk if anyone has said it but the part at the end where Gojo wakes up and pulls up his blindfold, his eyes are red from crying. It’s a small detail that breaks my heart every time. Plus it’s implied that these past five episodes have been Gojo dreaming of the past. Gojo most likely crying because he dreamt about how the only person he truly considered his friend left him. Also, in JJK 0 at the end where Gojo tells Yuta the person who found his school ID was his (Gojo) friend, Gojo called Geto his “one and only” friend. Season 2 really requires a box or two of tissues and some eyedrops from how much it makes me cry. I cry easily over emotional scenes in media, I’m a big crybaby lol. If it pulls on the heart strings, I’m shedding tears. Yes, my little brothers love to make fun of me for it. But yes, that was Haibara who was dead. Nanami was the one covering his face, threw the stool, and said “Can’t we just leave everything up to him (gojo) alone at this point.” Because if you notice in the opening credits/song it shows the Jujutsu High kids having fun and laughing, Nanami is smiling and being close to Haibara. Haibara was probably his best friend. Nanami also quit being a Jujutsu sorcerer after high school to become a salaryman, maybe the death of his close friend scared him or really weighed on him? The curse was supposed to be an easy (for them) grade 2 but was actually a grade higher, a grade 1. Forgive my rambling I’m was supposed to be asleep 3 hours ago and I’m too tired to proofread so if things don’t make a ton of sense or maybe borderline conspiracies, that’s why. But one more thing, Geto’s outfit after he takes over the cult thing at the end. He wears a Buddhist monk robe with an added piece, a Gojogesa, the yellow green vest thing piece on top. I might be a bit delulu but it seems like Geto wanted some Gojo influence on his outfit…GOJOgesa? A Buddist style monk robe when Gojo iconically quoted Buddha with “throughout heaven and earth, I alone am the honored one”?? Gojo’s Japanese voice actor has even voiced Buddha in a different anime, Record of Ragnarok.

Sitting_Bear (Rene)

That tattoo is 🔥🔥🔥 Thanks for sharing that!

I want to thank y’all for being the best anime reactors I’ve ever seen. The level of thought you guys put into each show you’re watching never fails to amaze me. I joined the Patreon as soon as you guys rolled out Otaku Gold. I instantly related to the way you guys processed the trauma of AoT, as I had also lost a parent at a young age. Monday was the anniversary of my dad’s death so the fact that you guys chose that day to release a bonus episode made me really happy on the day I dread every year. So thank you both so much for being a light in my dark day :) (I’ve also been looking for a good reason to comment on a jjk episode to show off my sukuna hand tattoo in my pfp. Lol so now that I’m here, pls enjoy)

Em

And on another note, though they refer to Gojo sometimes as the "dumb blindfolded guy", he seems very smart and intelligent to me. His technique literally requires an understanding of some deep physics sh*t. Lol so he really was a student back then, studying the extent of what his technique can do. I'm just in love, so yeah ignore me 😩🥰💜

J-Lee

I wonder the same, Jordan - if Geto would've been saved if it was Gojo who talked to him instead of Yuki. He's just gone way more confused as he was, maybe a bit provoked too giving him ideas as such, instead of giving him a more stable lecture or at least remind him of that principle he and his fellow comrades were fighting for. Gojo as his BFF failed mannn 😩 Lol but seriously, I love them together. Getooo *sighhhh*

J-Lee

Toji can hide all his items in his stomach, I.E Hidden Inventory!

Eli ☄️??

I think this is a severely underrated episode of the season. Geto’s descent was a slow process that made him resent the weak, despite previously feeling a moral responsibility to protect them as the “strong”. Idk if you guys noticed the clapping that is etched into Geto’s mind from the religious group celebrating the death of Riko, we heard the clapping fade in when geto showers and says his first “monkeys” and during the conversation with Yuki. Geto’s absorption of cursed spirits is supposed to taste like a rag filled with shit and vomit. (Imagine doing that for each and every curse spirit Geto has.) But why would he endure eating vomit and shit over and over again, for people that not only cause the endless cycle of curses, harm children (Riko, 2 girls in the village) get sorcerers killed (Haibara). What would you do in Geto’s place? The straw that broke the camel’s back were the 2 girls in the village, each candle in that scene represents Geto’s new and old ideologies. The village’s mistreatment of the innocent girls and insistence of scapegoating them even after the true curse was already exercised makes Geto give up hope on humanity.

Alex Cheng

ahh the classic kfc breakup that traumatized us all ( if you didn't notice they had that last conversation near a kfc 😂)

nads

I feel bad for gojo too , he lost the person he loved the most the person he thought he could relate to , gojo used to say in the beginning of the season " we're the strongest" to geto all the time but now HE is the strongest and the gap widened considerably between them ... he is now the strongest but also the LONELIEST of them all , he couldn't believe that the person that used to fight with him all the time about how they should protect the non-sorcerers ( in the basketball field if you remember) killed 100s of normal people and his parents on top of that to fullfil and extremist objective. gojo tried to save his " one and only " but couldn't, he can't save ssomeone that doesn't wanna be saved even if he's the strongest , so he found himself hurt, sad , lonely and incapable of bringing back the one person he cherished the most, wich reminded me of the scene when he said to yuta in the movie "there's no curse more twisted then love" .

nads

Thank you so much for the surprise drop! This has made my week!! you’re spoiling us now lol cannot wait for the next arc. The intro is one of my favorites so far, the excitement for the next arc is as high as Gojo was 😂

Meagan

This backstory makes a lot of things make more sense. For now, I'm only going to talk about Gojo's decisions. From this we obviously find that Gojo lost his best friend due to the nature of the job, where they both had to endure some heinous acts done by those they are protecting compounded with not having any form of outlet except continuing to do your job alone in the case of Geto which proved to only worsen his state of mind. Later in life, Gojo chose education which was stated as in episode 5 of the first season I believe. He mentions the reason why is because he hates the higher ups and wants to create a better generation of Jujutsu Sorcerers. Gojo protects his student's like Yuta & Itadori and comments "you can't take away youth from the youth" which directly aligns with his own experience with Geto. Gojo wants to create an environment where his students can't lose their way like Geto did by allowing them to be young. Not only does Gojo postpone Yuta's death sentence, but also Itadori's. Not only does he do that, but he tries his best to create a good environment for them and is overall very optimistic and lively to lift the mood. Gojo's ideology of not only teaching his students to become a lot stronger, he makes sure they are allowed their youth and the fun that comes with it hits a bit different knowing his & Geto's backstory. Especially when you consider how similar they are with age range and their class group being similar for all 3 (Gojo's 2nd/3rd years, Yuta's 1st/2nd years, and Itadori's 1st years).

krepostii

Ahh.. this comment really made me experience the heart break I felt during AOT again..

its_aliza

The line "the only best friend I had" from Gojo when Yuta asked about the person who picked up his lost ID card in the movie hits different after watching all these episodes. Couldn't help crying.

Noobmaster69 (shun)

Saddest anime break up ever.

Winifred

Hey Doubled J, I'm still here, just hiding in Megumi's shadow. I really appreciate the triple drop today. I really love how these 1st 5 episodes of the season were presented as a dream that Gojo was having of his past. I'm still in shock at the magnitude of destruction and death Geto chose to use to acknowledge his true feelings about non-cursed users. It was absolutely heart breaking. I'm not sure if things would have turned out differently if Gojo and Geto had never stopped working together. Geto was also mentally handling Gojo's ascension as he was becoming more powerful than him. He was fighting his own mental Kaisen, and lost. Well anyway I'm babbling, Loved the reactions and as always I appreciate ya'll.

ShortyP

Guys thank you so much for the time and effort it took to get us this surprise drop, it made my day!

Angélica Hernández

Pretty much everytime there was water running to Geto it sounded like the clapping back from when Riko was killed for nothing by non sorcerers, the truma was deep and he felt alone in it, because he saw that Gojo was thriving and wasn't as affected and he was.

Angélica Hernández

Ever since I saw your comments I see it so much

Snix

Im not gonna lie I’ve only recently noticed that parallel after rewatching aot for the 8th time (with these guys). I was like hold on I know a guy with similar views and problem solving techniques…

Tojisworm

whaaaaaaat unexpected 3 caps

Costosou

I think those two little girls are the teens with geto in jjk 0 and he only saved them cuz they're able to use curse energy I believe, he only wants to kill non sorcerers

Jinx's Baby Daddy(Brandon)

Yessss surprise drop!

Jinx's Baby Daddy(Brandon)

Im glad I'm not the only one mentioning the parallels between eren and geto lol, Geto could have easily had his show

Muh-la-lay

Geto reminds me a lot of Eren from AoT. Someone who starts off wanting to protect those around him and save humanity from the Titans (in this case, geto wants to save non-sorcerers from curses). Eventually, both find the enemy to be the humans they wanted to save, and both choose the extreme of exterminating them all. Even Gojo feels like a mirror of Mikasa, who is seen as one of the strongest and has to endure the one they care about most being influenced by extreme ideologies and quickly abandoning them even though they are the strongest. I guess the strongest are always the loneliest, I mean look at Levi. I also loved the moments when it would rain, or Geto would be showering, and the water sounded like clapping, it really put the audience in Geto's perspective to understand how the trauma affects his mindset. The shower scene especially moved me. For me, it was easy to understand Geto's shift in ideology. His friends die around him protecting the people that are creating the curses in the first place. And it seems to affect Geto especially since he isn't just exercising the curses, but absorbing them. Having to endure the taste and mental torture of that would make anyone question who he's doing it for. It's even sadder thinking about how it all resolves, with Gojo killing Geto (another AoT comparison of Mikasa and Eren). Makes you wonder what Gojo said to Geto in the end, and why Geto said "At least curse me a little at the end". It's all pretty tragic.

Muh-la-lay

Wow it always amazes me how some of y'all are great at breaking down all the info and catching on to small details. I didn't even catch on to Geto replaying the clapping crowd scene in his mind. Bravo 👏

Kenken

This episode's focus being Gojo and Geto, one thing that can be easily overlooked is Nanami's pain. Yu Haibara was killed during a mission with Nanami and his body was taken back to the morgue by Nanami himself. In the morgue, you can really see how his death affects Nanami and Geto. Haibara and Nanami were the only ones in their class so after Haibara died, Nanami was all alone. Also, Nanami's negativity was always offset by Haibara's extreme optimism. Haibara's death affected Nanami greatly and likely played a role in his decision to leave life behind as a jujutsu sorcerer. I think Jared mentioned that Haibara reminded him of Yuji and yeah, besides their names being very similar (Yu/Yuji), they share a lot of personality/character traits. I think that's also the reason why Nanami cares so much for Yuji, he reminds him of Haibara. Fun fact : Megumi means "blessing" in Japanese (that's why Toji remembered naming his kid Megumi when he was talking about blessing). So, Gojo got Toji's blessing while Geto got Toji's curse. You can now understand the name "Hidden Inventory", that being the curse. "Premature Death" could be referring to Geto, his "depression" being a premature death. The triple reaction drop was such a treat, thank you so much ! Everyone told you about how crazy Season 2 is and let me tell you, it's just the beginning ! We're all in for quite a ride with you guys !

I really like the way Gege portrayed two different ways in which trauma can affect people. Some experience a big change and grow from it, managing to process the trauma emotionally; Post Traumatic Growth. Gojo did just that. After the incident he focused on getting stronger and had a change in worldview. Geto in other hand, developed PTSD. Unable to cope with the trauma, he kept on re-experiencing the event in his head over and over. The despair, isolation, drastic negative change in worldview. All signs of extreme psychological distress. I think a major decisive detail that led to both of these reactions is not only their own personalities, but the nature of how they wound up after Toji's defeat. Gojo lost but was more or less back from the dead, awakening his whole power and becoming the strongest sorcerer alive. Geto in other hand witnessed Riko getting killed after promising her a brighter future, and couldn't defead Toji either. Gojo grew in power exponentially while Geto fell between the cracks and had no support system. It was a disaster waiting to happen. Had someone more adequate reached out to Geto and helped him heal properly. The dark path he ended up walking might not have been so decisive.

kiki

Hello! I feel Geto has a bit of Eren in him but I definitely wouldn't use the two as synonyms. He is a "better" guy than Gojo at the beginning and even seemingly stop GOJO from becoming the bad guy; "should I just kill them all?". I think Satoru was ready to kill all the people that were celebrating Riko's death and although her ending was tough on Suguru too, he does say no, don't do it which does in fact stop Gojo from making that mistake. I'm sure someone will explain the blue and red lightning in a scene so I will move on. Eventually Gojo becomes extremely strong and we see Geto struggle with his mental health (prob depression = he losses weight and clearly doesn't sleep much or well). Now the next part is not 100% confirmed info of any sorts but MANY fans believe that one of the reasons why Geto chooses the path he chose is because he saw and understood that Gojo being the strongest will be used as a tool and constantly will have to put his life in danger for the sake of saving people who perhaps don't deserve that, who are weak. But the final decision was influenced by the little girls, they did nothing wrong but the entire village hated them and blamed all their misfortune on them even when Geto said that it wasn't their fault... actually their negative emotions were most likely the cause of the curses appearing and causing troubles, but they just weren't listening! talking about how they should have killed the girls when they were born. As they were talking you can see new curses being born and Geto sensed and understood that too and that was his breaking point. These "monkeys" emit so much negativity towards each other and create curses that later kill his friends, in his brain it was justifiable to try what Yuki talked to him about earlier- kill non sorcerers so they can evolve and become sorcerers and therefore significantly or completely reduce frequency of the curses. She wasn't crazy enough to do it but he is. I love the depth of Geto's character and I truly believe he has an amazing writing, he is definitely my top 5 of all anime character ever. PS. Because I binge watched, I don’t remember when and who said it but I laughed a little bit when one of you said that you love the clapping in the opening- same clapping that is haunting poor Geto (don’t worry I love the clapping and music synchro too)

Tojisworm

This episode reveals the full story behind Geto Suguru's turn into what he had become, I always thought JJK's Hidden Inventory arc had one of the best character writings out there. Let me try to explain in full detail the causes for the shift in Geto's personality. First, Geto's ideals, in the first episode and a few times after, he kept insisting that the power of sorcerers is meant to keep the weak safe and that it was very important for their actions as sorcerers exorcising spirits to have a meaning behind them, this is hinting/referencing to the fact that his technique is harsh on him to use and he needs a strong reason to why he has to go through it over and over. Then a turning point happens during the death of Riko Amanai, Geto witnesses a truly horrific scene in one of the Time Vessel Association locations where the believers of the cult were applauding Riko's corpse as it is being held by Gojo, Geto is traumatized by this occurrence and starts to realize the ugliness of the masses that he spent his life trying to protect while suffering his technique's side effects. Now comes the last episode of the arc, it starts by emphasizing how grueling and harsh it is for Geto to exorcise cursed spirits and what he has to go through every time he does it. A year passes, the Time Vessel Association clapping scene is being referenced twice in this episode showing that Geto is truly traumatized by that event even a year later. Once during the shower scene, the sound of the drops of water change slowly to the sound of the clapping, the second time is when he speaks to Tsukumo Yuki as she mentions that killing all non-sorcerers is probably going to work in eliminating all cursed spirits, the sound of the rain changes slowly to the sound of clapping. After this scene which showed Geto taking a bit of comfort talking to a fellow sorcerer (Haibara) we see Haibara died on the mission he was sent to which adds to the pressure building up inside Geto. Onto the last turning point, Geto is sent to a rural village where two young sorcerer girls were blamed by the villagers for the deaths of other villagers even though the cause was a cursed spirit that Geto had already exorcised before visiting the village. Combining all of this piled stress on Geto this was the last nail in the coffin, causing Geto to choose the path of despising non-sorcerers, killing all non-sorcerer villagers and pursuing his goal of a world without cursed spirits by killing all non-sorcerers. In summary, in Geto's eyes he saw protecting the weak a "worse" option for him, him having to suffer through exorcising using his technique over and over, his comrades dying in battle against cursed spirits, all while the cause of these spirits appearing in the first place are non-sorcerers, who he had witnessed the ugliness of, this is what broke Geto's path.

Mr. Potato

Nanami told him the curse spirit that killed Haibara was as strong as it was because the PEOPLE living in that town worshipped it like a god. So in a way you can say Haibara died fruitlessly, trying to help the people that damned themselves. From that point onwards, you can see that both Geto and Nanami's ideology shifted. The pride he has in himself and his strong conviction meant Geto decided to do something about the world he sees as broken and unjust. The village and the twins were the final straw for him. Nanami, on the other hand, was more dispassionate and humble. He didn't care for others or his impact on the world; he only wanted peace within himself. So Nanami left the jujutsu world, only to discover that there is no peace out there in the human world when you have a kind and sympathetic heart. And he came back onto the scene with new mindsets, to do things he wants in his ways and on his own terms.

kiki

watching these 3 episodes with yall today was a real treat! i think you caught on to most everything and have been taking everything in really well! i rewatch these 5 episodes pretty often myself, and the rest of the season is going to be really great too! "do you think you're the strongest because you're Satoru Gojo, or are you Satoru Gojo because you're the strongest?" absolute killer line right there. ... it was a quick scene, but that was in fact Haibara in the morgue, a death Nanami struggled with because they were the only students in the same year and on that mission together. i think it was mentioned in earlier episodes, also Yuji resembles Haibara in attitude a lot which i think was said too. also Geto did save those girls and keep them alive because they were sorcerers, and this was sort of a tipping point for him seeing the way non-sorcerers were treating these young sorcerers. he had already saved the village but they were imprisoning these girls and mistreating them and saying they should die, and that moment he let himself be overtaken by the hate of non-sorcerers and make his choice. i know it's a silly thing, but seeing those girls grow up and be taken care of by Geto in JJK0 is why i say Geto is a good dad 😅 he killed his family but then formed a new family, it's twisted but he was hella traumatized. your police / first responder analogy was great. when Yuki was talking to Geto she had admitted that killing every non-sorcerer was the "easiest option" to end curses, but she also said she would never do that. so i don't know if you should give her the side eye quite yet, since we've see her later on with Todo and he turned out great 😂😂😂

fox

Just to clear it up, that was indeed Haibara dead on the table, him and Nanami were given a mission that was too much for them to handle, I feel like Geto seeing Haibara dead really messed him up on top of what had already happened Love the reactions and I hope my comment helped out a little 🙏

Pulpo Cabeza grande

Im getting spoiled today with this surprise drop

Snix

YOU GUYS ARE THE BESTTT ❤️💜💜

kiki

To further explain the scene with the two girls in the cage, Geto was at a village where the two girls were imprisoned because the villagers thought the two young sorcerers were causing disturbances. Getos line "I've already eliminated the causes of those incidents" implied it was not them and Geto solved it but the girls were still imprisoned. Since this is another instance of sorcerers suffering at the hands of normal humans, it was probably the final straw for him to make his decisions. Loved your police officer anecdote as well, thanks for the triple drop. P.S., the two girls were actually in JJK0 with Geto, just older : )

Jackson Seales

Getos breaking point was seeing how the non-sorcerers treated the kids in the village. He took care of whatever problem they were having with cursed spirits but they still blamed the two girls as if they were monsters. So he killed everyone in the village and saved the two girls.
