Man. watching this episode made me miss my twin brother more. We're identical, like y'all. But i made the decision to leave a few weeks ago to do the coastguard, and he practically has a wife. Ever since he started dating her about 8 years ago, we slowly drifted apart. I never thought about it much, but i really do wish him and I could've been like you two, spending every day together, enjoying shows and small things. But we can't. We had to grow up, and I had to let go of that connection. Though he is still my best friend, and will always be the only person in the world I know the best, I miss him like crazy. It makes me cry. It's hard. Watching you two interact, really sometimes hurts for me. I miss my brother so much. I wish things could go back like they used to be. I know y'all wont see this. But I hope you do. You guys help remind me of what could have been. Not that I envy that much. I do wish we could have lived together, and spent a lot of our lives growing up threw our twenties together. But it didn't work out that way. I can't even remember the night we last spent together living in the same house. But I do have memories, and i still know him better than anyone in this world. We survived Twin-twin transfusion syndrome. You guys should look that up. We were supposed to die. And if we survived, we shouldn't have lived very long. Thank you you two. Y'all are living the dream. I appreciate your content so very much, and I hope you two can always do this. It's very special.

I was looking forward to this episode because I knew the relationship between Maki and Mai would be special to you guys.
Maki and Mai are indeed twin sisters, Maki being the older one. Borned in the Zenin clan (which places jujutsu above all else), their births as twins were considered a bad omen, this was reinforced by the fact that Maki and Mai had low levels of cursed energy, Maki is even unable to use cursed techniques or see curses without her glasses (which are a cursed tool). Due to her inability to see cursed spirits, Mai always relied on her older sister as a child because she was afraid of them.
Maki, mistreated by the Zenin clan, expeled herself from it to become stronger in order to be the head of the clan. Mai, on the other hand, was completely okay with being just a servant in the clan. When they were younger, Maki promised she would stay with Mai but she ended up breaking that promise. This is when Mai started calling her "liar" and hating her, to the point where she never told her anything, even that she has a cursed technique : Construction.
During their fight, Mai said "Maki has a talent I don't" (physical prowess) when in reality, Mai also has a talent that Maki does not, a cursed technique. She is unable to see that even though they are opposites, they complete each other.
I love their dynamic because it's very similar to real sibling relationships and I'm sure you can connect more to it because you are twins. Love your reactions, always a pleasure to watch you.

More than anyone or anything else, twins rarely get individual recognition and are often sort of considered the same person in two bodies. You're both expected to like the same things, act the same way, and have the same wishes. More than anything, I think twins themselves always feel that no matter what happens there's always a guaranteed person they can rely on.
To me, Mai feels incredibly isolated. She probably is still scared of cursed spirits, but now she's forced to fight them constantly. The safety blanket Maki offered is no longer there, as she's in another school land progressing in that profession. The higher Maki climbs, the harder all of Mai's struggles are going to be. For Maki to be clan leader, Mai will have to make it through those same trials, which she doesn't even believe she can survive because of the giant gap in terms of skill and ability between them.

"Twins are a sign of ill fortune."
J&J: 🙄😑🤨😕
Maki is older, that's why she said to Mai, "you should call me Onee-chan" which means older sister, like Unnie in Korean. That fight between the twins and their backstory always made me tear up when I watch this. The hardships they both faced and are still facing is quite the same, but actually greatly differ. However, one affects the other so their wounds, esp Mai's, ran really deep. It's amazing that even twins have very contrasting personalities no matter how much they look alike 😊
Anyways, since J&J got their gurls here - you can now answer Todo's question what your type is LOL. The blue-haired girl is Kasumi Miwa, Jared's girl. And Jordan's girl is Momo Nishimiya. Get your girls' names correct, you guys! 😆
Thanks for this episode, I'mma jump onto the next now 🥰💜

Mai was calling Maki “one-chan”, which means big sister. So Maki is the older. Younger siblings in Japan call their older sister one/ne-san, one/ne-chan or aneki (all meaning big sister), and their older brother oni/ni-san, oni/ni-chan or aniki (all of these mean big brother). I hope I didn’t make it too confusing 🤣🤣
Btw, I didn’t wanna cry while eating my dinner, but I couldn’t help it at the end of this episode 😭. This is my first time watching this anime.

I love Maki and Mai very much. Their relationship is so painful and complex. Maki (the oldest twin) is so tough and independent, it feels like her and Mai, who is soft but acts like she's not, were never truly compatible from the beginning. As a kid, Mai was constantly scared because she could see curses while Maki could not, so bc of this Mai was extra attached to her seemingly fearless older sister. Maki seemed to drag Mai along because she had no other choice, almost like she was over Mai's constant fears. It's really sad that one sister was happy to just be by her twin's side while the other wasn't interested bc she wanted more for herself not just as a sorcerer but as a person. I can understand it from both points of view.
Also, yes the crows are being controlled by Mei Mei, the white haired woman with the huge braid on her face lol. And someone may have mentioned it already but for clarification, Nishimiya is the witchy sorcerer with the blonde pigtails and broom, and Miwa is the blue-haired girl who uses simple domain and her sword.

Mei-mei's cursed technique (white haired woman that was talking with Gojo) gives her the ability to control crows and see through their eyes as if they were robots but they are actual living crows. Mai's cursed technique "construction"it's a really interesting technique because it can create actual objects that don't disappear after the technique ends so she can literally create matter out of nowhere, the catch is that to use this technique it takes a big amount of cursed energy so she can only create one bullet per day. Also Todo wants Yuji to get stronger because he sees him as his friend and in the world of Jujutsu sorcers if you're not strong you're definitely going to die. Please don't compare him to Hisoka, Todo ain't interested in kids.

I always tear up when Mai is talking to Maki. Maki is my favorite out of the two but I understand Mai’s resentment and frustration towards her sister. She’s really mean towards other people, from what we saw with how she talks to Nobara and Yuji. But this episode really humanizes her and makes me sympathize for her. I still don’t care for her personality but I like her as a character. She wants to have a safe and comfy life which is understandable in the JJK world honestly lol.
Maki on the other hand wants to prove to her clan that she’s not disposable and a waste of space. She doesn’t just want an easy life, getting told to do chores for the rest of her life. She kinda reminds me of Killua in a way when he said “Who wants their whole life planned out for them.”
These two characters and their dynamic is written so well 🙂↕️

I feel I can relate a little with Maki and Mai, I have a twin sister (we are fraternal twins) and I'm the older one by 3 minutes, we have very different personalities and a lot of people have said we're almost like oil and water, we just don't mesh well together, in fact the farther apart we are the better we get along.
It caused a lot of friction over the years growing up together and sharing a lot of things, the fact that we were always compared to each other and our family always wanted us to do the same things even though we were always on opposite sides of everything; after a long time it created resentment for both of us but at the same time I love my sister, it's a very complex feeling and relationship.
Now that we're much older and each of us have a separte life we are working on repairing our relationship and even though we're living in different continents (she's in Europe) we're now closer than we've ever been.
Great reaction J&J, love from Colombia ❤️

Maki and mai both faced hardships by their clan, the zenin clan tormented the twins as maki cannot even see curses and mai does not have the hereditary technique (the zenin clan's hereditary technique which is the ten shadows technique is inherited by Megumi fushiguro ) so both of them were subject to scrutiny and scorn. Maki is ambitious and knows that she's more than what her family says she is, she wanted to prove herself as a strong jujutsu sorcerer and left the clan, however her making this choice led to Mai also being kicked out of the clan and put forth effort to become a jujutsu sorcerer too, Mai wanted to live a normal life, she did not mind staying at the bottom if it meant her sister, maki was with her.

just starting this video and I'm just gonna comment the link to the original 'Demure' video from tiktok. Jools went viral for starting this silly little satirical trend, she's so funny and the trend is funniest when people use it in a contradictory way or in the way you suggested which is taking control of their own narratives. (I'm not an expert but I'm online too much)
