Haikyuu!! 3x10 REACTION! (*SEASON 3 FINALE*)

Comments

I've always been the fastest runner at my secondary school albeit a girls only school but there was always this one lass who I feared would beat me and one day I was dehydrated and tired and we had an 800m race and I was in first place but started slowing down because I couldn't breathe and just at the last 5m she ran past me and won. I was so annoyed and mad at myself because I knew I could beat her and this was my last race. That being said I was also on the netball team and we have these rivals who are like the Shiratorizawa. They always beat everyone, but one time we won them. I wasn't a goal scorer I was a wing attacker but I think I played my role well and that day we all went out to eat and it was the best feeling.

My favorite part of this episode is the scoring point Hinata made at the end. The musical score, the animation (and can we just appreciate the animation of the 360 shot!!!! There’s roughly around 24+ frames per second and the animators made that look absolutely smooth.) and the story. This is storytelling at its finest. Having all 5 of the Karasuno’s players on the court approaching the ball and all ready and committed to spiking the ball even when there’s a chance they might not get it set to them, (plus exhausted from the game) and then Kageyama setting the ball to Hinata and having his completely trust in him to get that last point was BRILLIANT!!! I remember the first time I watched this, its one of those scenes where everything just fits together just right. I had to replay it a handful of times before I was ok to move on from the scene. After seeing the 3rd years crying, they’ve been waiting for this moment since there first year. They’ve all come so for at this moment and this win was a well deserved one!!

Wow I'd love to hear about that! It gives me courage knowing that I can do it ❤️ I'll keep working hard, thank you!

I’m commenting a little late, but on the rewatch did you see Yachi’s reaction to the win? Watch her right when the silence breaks and everyone begins to cheer.😁 To answer your question: Toughest time in my life came in adulthood battling a stress-induced autoimmune disease which was treated similar to cancer with IV chemo for a year (and heavy oral drugs and oral immunosuppressants for a couple years post-chemo) while simultaneously earning my second masters, adjusting to an unexpected divorce after many years of marriage, missing my kids during shared custody, and working full time with two additional side hustle jobs. I look back with amazement that I successfully juggled all the weight, both physical and mental. I’m definitely stronger, more self-actualized, and healthier on the other side. I am thankful I had a small “team” to lean on. Tough to go hardships solo.💗 No major sports stories to tell. All teams I played on were mediocre lol (I played HS VB, BXB, track, tennis). We were a school of about 1500 kids (5A classifcation then). Most teams missed state through elimination at districts minus our football program.😁 Thanks, J&J. Hope your bday was fab.🎉

Welcome, Elle. My faves, outside of Karasuno, are in S4. Can’t wait, too!

Caught up finally!! First time leaving a comment on here😅 I found you guys on youtube 2 days ago and binged all that you had on there for Haikyuu then saw that you've finished until S3 over here and so here I am LOL It has been a great pleasure to rewatch with both of you. I've been starved of Haikyuu reactions and you guys were like a breath of fresh air. Cannot wait for you to see the arc in S4 and I am impatiently waiting for you to meet certain characters (I think we all are tbh 😂) Happy birthday guys! I'm off to binge your AOT videos now lol

This season was absolutely beautiful, I love it so much. I think season 3 was amazing and this was the point that Haikyuu became my #2 anime, right behind AOT. But next season is my favorite of all time. My favorite character is getting introduced next season! As always, there will be a plethora of new characters that will show up and you'll love them (most likely!)

What a finale to S3. The feels. Yes, some of the best days of my life- high school VB. Before I entered high school and joined the VB club, our school was well known for two sports- soccer and VB, being among the top five in the region. I was new to VB then, having only played basketball and netball briefly, but both sports were not offered in my high school. On top of that, my seniors who were part of this powerhouse have all graduated so the new team including me were all first years and new to VB. We learnt the basics and trained hard everyday until our days were basically eat, study, practice, sleep, repeat. Nothing else. In our first year, our school's reputation as a powerhouse went down because of us- we were losing every match. We felt so down, very often on the verge of giving up. I will never forget the feeling of not only losing one match after another, but getting criticized and be called losers by our own school for not keeping up to the reputation. I was the captain, so trying to keep the team spirit up was so hard. But I couldnt have asked for better team mates, we always showed up for practice everyday, training harder and harder. I was practically training with a VB on my bed up to the point I fall asleep lol. I mentioned some eps before about the VB rule changes we had to adapt to as well while we were still honing our skills. Challenging but we felt motivated with each other’s dedication as we trained together everyday. The following year (second year), we won our first match. It didnt feel real, really. I remember hearing our friends cheering for us at the stands when we won, but my team mates and I were more focused on preparing for the next match the next day. As the tournaments were held elsewhere, we traveled back to our school for more practice. So when we saw Tsukki reflecting after the game, it reminded me of that time. The following years, we won match after match, and got to the top five. People we didnt know came to congratulate us, our school was announcing our wins, putting up posters, etc. But I think at that time, we could only think of our past losses and struggles more than anything. Seeing Asahi, Daichi and Suga hug and cry, it really brought me back to how much we cried in our final year. It cant be fully expressed into words, but perhaps the post- adrenaline rush brought us down to tears first. Alot of mixed emotions as our tears continued- possibly sadness like that would be our last time in the court or prolonged bottled up feelings released or just deep gratitude to our team mates for sticking together and to those who believed in us. It was really overwhelming and indescribable. Im still in touch with some of my team mates and our juniors who took over after we graduated lol. Oh J&J, what you said and how I felt after watching this, got me writing so much, Im sorry for this long one 🙏🏻. Love you guys and thank you! Hope you had an awes birthday! 🙏🏻💜

I see! I didn't know why I found Ushijima so interesting until you mentioned it along with Erwin. Without a doubt I always end up loving these types of characters

Hani

btw, when Ushijima went to Hinata and Kageyama after the match and said "I'll defeat you next time", it was actually a huuuuuge acknowledgement of their skills. Since Ushijima is a third year, he won't be playing against them in high school matches anymore, which means he is convinced they will go pro after school, as that would be the only way for Ushijima to play against them again. I also loooove when Ushijima said he wanted to tell Hinata that he's stronger than him, and that he wanted to say that even if it is childish. Lots of people believe Ushijima is a stoic boring character, but he's actually just a bit awkward socially. The fact that he can reflect on his own intentions and still stand up for them despite being so awkward, makes him really likable to me.

Elina

That image with Ushijima pressing Hinata and Tsukishima down really is one for the ages. The author was initially embarrassed when planning it, but I'm so happy they managed to overcome it and left the scene in.

Wait I’ve never seen that shiratorizawa clip, that was so moving 🥺 we say it every season but truly it is incredible the way this show allows you to have such empathy for the opposing teams. But never even in the same way. Each team has their own unique personalities that draws you in. Love it so much 🥰

taetaebear01 (Lindsey E.)

I straight up almost cried during this episode and this is at least my third time watching haha

By the time the manga was being published, this match lasted for 10 months. Ten freaking months with one small chapter per week for a single volleyball match (and they shove it into 10 episodes 😂). Furudate made it extremely rich in details. We had, for example, many panels showing face expressions, which allowed us to dive deeper into each character’s feelings. Unfortunately, some complexity, colors and flavors will always be lost in the animation process. That’s normal, since anime and manga are different media. Sometimes this difference has a big impact. For example, at that time many people fell in love with Tendo (me included 🤣🤣), we got obsessed with him. I even wanted to create a page on tumblr only to post all of Tendo’s appearances, but someone else had the same idea and did it first. The page was called Everytendo 😂. I remember all the ruckus when he got an entire cover (volume 20) with his face on it 🤣🤣. It doesn’t really show very well in the anime, but Tendo is the most precious boy, the kind that everyone wishes to protect at all costs. I realized recently that most people who only saw the anime usually don’t understand why so many people claim to love Tendo so so so much. That happens because the Tendo we met reading the manga is slightly different from the one in the anime. When season 3 came out, it was kind of a disappointment, since our expectations were really high. You know when you see a beautiful full moon, try to photograph it, but all you get is a blurry or a plain picture? This is what the anime did to Tendo. Season 3 was indeed beautiful and very well produced, but it’s still a compact version of the manga, so it’s inevitable that some things are lost.

Patty

Season 3 finale always gets me 😭. I feel like you will love season 4 even more. Thank you for your amazing reactions J&J. Love from Colombia ❤️

One of the best episodes! And yes, there is a movie to watch after season 4 but I don’t believe it has been released to streaming services quite yet. Don’t worry about searching for the movie until after season 4 to avoid spoilers! Thanks for another fantastic reaction, you guys always brighten my day

bubbaburto

ahhhh this episode is one of my favorites. Oikawa and Iwaizumi talking about Kageyama's work is very wholesome to me. I don't really think Oikawa's too upset (he is, but that's not the only thing), if anything I think he was pulling for Karasuno secretly if only because that'd mean Seijoh wasn't defeated for nothing 😭. the visualization of Hinata getting the last point was phenomenal too, and the contrast between Takeda and Ukai's congratulations to the team versus Shiratorizawa's coach to his team is actually kinda sad to me, but even if he's harsh on them, they were left smiling a little after he told them they'd hit a hundred serves so I took it to mean they were happy with his words regardless. can't wait for next season!!

bella

I loved how they portrayed the continuous pressure that Ushijima was showing on Tsukki and Hinata at the end of the match and that it showed how Daichi, Asahi, and Tanaka came to their rescue them with their defensive and offensive plays to take the pressure off of them. Also thank you thank you thank you for noticing that the first memebers that they show after Karasuno winning the match was Daichi, Suga, and Asahi, the 3rd years who in their 1st year claimed that they were going to take Karasuno back to nationals. Also did you notice that after the awards ceremony that there was only 3 crows flying in the sky. I truly believe that they represent Suga, Daichi, and Asahi finally reaching their goal and now are truly free to fly high. What do you think.

Nightwing

Not a coincidence that I've crushed on Ushijima and Erwin Smith. Guess I have a type lol

Muh-la-lay

haha that imagery is the PRESSURE of exhaustion and perseverance

Ntsuab Vwj

That convo w ushiwaka and tendo saying he’ll brag about being best buds always has me cryin 😭😂

Alyssa

This episode was so fulfilling knowing how Karasuno first started! The way they dragged out that very last point up until that whistle blew was just 🤯. They made sure we felt every. single. emotion with those boys. So so proud of them! I cried when Daichi, Asahi and Suga hugged. I felt like I was in that hug with them 😭 We’re going to Nationals!!!!!! 🙌🏽 How perfect is it that Karasuno’s win against Shiratorizawa fell on your birthday 🥳 Thank goodness Jared didn’t have to scrap a reaction 🤣 Happy Birthday again Jared and Jordan! 🎂

Charaety

Time for my absolute favourite arc, season 4 let’s go! I’m glad you guys got to enjoy this on your birthday :) as for the feeling you talked about, I’ve had something similar. Covid hit during my final years of school, and it was rough for me in many ways. But during the summer we couldn’t go outside, i decided to put all my effort into studying instead. When lockdown was lifted and we went back to school, the teachers were genuinely surprised that i could remember all the content without checking. Probably the most satisfying feeling of my life. I got great grades and am now at university studying languages. People tried to talk me out of it though, since they thought I should study something “better”. I still beat myself up all the time over not being good enough, so I really related to Tsukki in that scene. Sometimes i need a reality check from people to realise “the fact that you can even do this much is crazy”. Haikyuu has actually been one of my greatest motivators in studying Japanese, so I have a lot to thank this series for. Going to Japan and watching the movie, and understanding it, was truly my “I made it” moment.
