Japanese calligraphy or shodo is an important art form for Japanese people. It is the ancient art of writing beautifully. Japanese calligraphers are very well respected in Japan ( if they’ve proven themselves that they are good at it ) Even though I am not Japanese but I REALLY like those calligraphy styles. It’s so cool and impactful and Beautiful!! So glad that you mentioned my comment in this video. I’m from Thailand by the way🇹🇭. Love your videos!!💕

I just realized this translation is off (35:08) when Ukai said, "I can't overwhelm them before the match", he actually said "We(the coaches) can't be overwhelmed by the match". So basically with the sentences before, the coaches have to think about the strategy while players are focusing on the match.

Woot! Haikyu!! Wednesday!💜

thanks for reading my comment! my username is just based on one of Japanese hiragana (alphabet)😂 (it's too long to explain the basic of hiragana so you can read in your free time. https://www.nhk.or.jp/lesson/en/letters/hiragana.html ) the reason I'm using it as my username is kinda random, mostly because my real name have a Japanese character な(Na) but people often misheard it as ま(Ma) and I have to say it's not Ma, so I chose the entire Ma row of Japanese hiragana for my username, ma mi mu me mo, just for fun 🤣

mamimumemo

“don’t act like you can read that” 🤣🤣

Shy

So now you got to see some of the signals/strategizes that Suga made for his team and don't worry they will come into play later as well(By the time you get to this comment next week you might have seen it during the Date Tech if not during these next episodes) Yes Coach Ukai does so much to help prepare his team even if he does lose sleep because of it. The scene with Kiyoko is so emotional because she is normally really shy and does not talk much so when she does Suga, Daichi, Asahi. Tanaka, and Noya all get emotional and fired up more than usual

wow we get 3 eps this week?

They can’t play against Nekoma in this prelim, they are from different prefectures (like different states), Karasuno from Miyagi and Nekoma from Tokyo. Maybe you need some clarifications (it took me a long time to understand that the first time a saw Haikyuu): There are 2 national tournaments each course/year, the Inter-High Tournament and the Spring Tournament. Each one has different stages to choose 1 to 3 representatives from each prefecture (depending on the size of that prefecture, in Miyagi just 1) to compete in the final stage, the national. If they want to play against Nekoma in an official match both teams need to be at the top of their prefectural stages to go to the national stage and play there. It can be a bit confusing, but I hope you can understand Thank you for your reactions

If this can help: try to pronounce Japanese words as if they aren’t a single sound, like it is split into two or more: Hina-Ta Asa-Hi Neko-Ma Kara-Suno Ryu-zaki Kage-Yama There’s cases where you can pronounce it as a single sound as well of course, Ryuzaki is an example. With time, the more anime you watch the more it will be natural to “know the spot where the name splits”. You can often notice the split if you pay attention when they pronounce names too.

KariaP

when trying to pronounce japanese names it helps i think to remember that (not all, but most of the time) japanese names don't typically stress random syllables the way western or american names tend to. it would never be hi-NA-tuh, just hi-na-ta, with equal intonation on each syllable. same with asahi, it would never be ah-sa-HI, it's just ah-sa-hi. it's not tuh-KAY-da, but just tah-keh-dah. same with the name of their school: karasuno won't be ka-RAH-su-no, it'll just be kah-rah-su-no. it helps me to tap my nail on a hard surface for every syllable to practice keeping the intonation the same. apply this to any of the other character's whose names you guys already have down pat, i.e. kageyama, and you start to notice a pattern hehe. keep this trick in mind if you're ever stressed about pronunciations. and if not that's fine too, not the most important thing. thanks for all your hard work !

also im pretty sure Ukai is volunteering as a coach. the "official coach" has to be someone from the Karasuno school, so Takeda-sensei. Ukai is there because he knows techniques and strategy, unlike Takeda. But he is not getting paid by the school, so he does in fact work at the farm, the store and still volunteers as a coach, which is a pretty rough schedule but Im sure they showed that to make you understand that everyone on this team is super determined, even the coach

I don't think Hinata was talking about winning the silly little race against Kageyama. He was talking about volleyball. Hinata's goal is to beat Kageyama at Volleyball even if Kageyama were to become the best in the world. Kageyma told Hinata at the end "Let's go! Today we take our first step towards that goal" indicating it's necessary for Hinata to win tournaments (today is the first game of preliminaries) in order to beat him. Also, I am glad you were able to remember the "because humans don't have wings we look for ways to fly". Karasuno represents crows and right now they are known as “flightless crows” by other teams. It's encouraging to have a banner telling the crows (Karasuno) to fly!!! The "fly" message is so simple yet so powerful!

Bibi

you guys are seriously my favorite reactors now. the care and attention to detail you watch every episode with is something most reactors lack. its such a joy to watch you and hear your thought processes!

Elina

Please feel free to say Hinata's name however you want :) I don't think it's that big of a deal, the most important is that you feel comfortable saying it. Absolutely love your reactions to all these goated Animes, AOT and Haikyuu are solidified in my top 3 alongside Naruto, the road ahead only gets better for each (exponentially so)!

tictac1997

We need Haikyuu more often guys. Keep up the good work!

I haven’t watched this episode in years, and one thing really stuck out to me. “Today we take the first step towards OUR goal.” Kageyama is saying that even though Hinata wants to beat him, they have a shared goal in wanting to go pro and be the best. Once again I think it’s great that he’s grown so much from always saying “I want to win”.
