Tennis!? | Death Note - Ep. 10 Reaction!

Comments

jordan's immediate "no, that's not real" after chief yagami's heart attack is revealed 🤣🤣🤣🤣

hin0kamikagura

Hey guys, just wanted to say that this is legit the only reaction channel I'm willing to pay money for, your in-depth discussions are worth it!!!

Comedy_Gold

I would second The Promised Neverland. I've always wanted to see people react to that series.

Zugzwang

Morally questionable or morally grey characters are so intriguing, I can’t help but love how they are written, hence my love for Light. Great points made in your post!

antionette7

Also you're wrong Omney. He doesn't enjoy killing people, or else he'd just kill at random. He's only ever killed criminals and threats to himself. "Too bad, this could've been more fun if only you'd been a little smarter" -Light when killing Lind Taylor. Why'd he say that if he simply enjoyed killing? It's not the killing he enjoys. Its the challenge. Its the feeling of righteousness and unique vision, the godhood. There is another argument on Light's side. Violent crime dropped to all-time lows. People focus on the fear instilled in the population, but they forget good people are living happier than ever. We don't see that bit, but it's true. The police could never curb crime to that degree. And that's Japan we're talking about. Think about the lives saved if Kira curbs gun crime in America. No more school shootings? Surely that's worth 13 FBI agents, wouldn't you say? Of course the arguments against are sound and valid. But let's not pretend its such an open-and-shut case already. All things considered Kira should have a fair few supporters in real life just like in the show.

Koala Banana

Ok bro, I didnt say it was hard to argue, I said it takes more than "awww Naomi." You didn't refute anything I said, in fact you proved it correct.

Koala Banana

Yay, I caught up! I have always been team L. Though Light's mission sounds noble on the surface, as someone who's studied criminal justice, psychology, and moral panics. The chances that he'd actually do more good than harm in the end is very low. For one thing, he's getting his death list from the media. There's so many examples of proven innocent people who were destroyed by the media. Of course, groups like The Innocence Project exist because innocent people are found guilty all the time. In some cases it's hard to really know, but there's cases where the person couldn't possibly commit the crime, and yet they're still found guilty. Anyways, team L, ha. Looking forward to the next episode. Now to catch up with AoT. 😁

Desdemona

Oh, and forever Team Light!

antionette7

How to kill a shinigami: tennis ball Ryuk jumping to avoid L’s serve never ceases to make me chuckle.😆

antionette7

The fact that there are another 27 episodes left from here on, still blows my mind! Love that you are enjoying DN as much as we are 💜🙏🏻 At this very moment, Team L. The man willingly stepped out into the world for the first time, knowing the risks in this case. Ryuk saying he doesnt care about whether Light feels cursed or happy, but then adds that “normally humans who come into contact with the Shinigami have nothing but misfortune” - any thoughts around why would Ryuk add that?

Ewwww Naruto

I've been wondering all day, regarding sub vs dub: Was I the only one who didn't realise they switched to dub until they read the comments? 😬 I didn't realise it the other time they switched as well 😂 I like both the dub and sub. I watch the sub when I actually look at the screen and listen to the dub when I'm working by putting it on as background noise.

Selina

Yess terror in Resonance!! 100%

Ricchi

Yes! 🙌 Code Geass or Terror in Resonance would fit too, I think, so I added it into my original comment 🙈 I kind of like having the options of Psychological - Sports/Slice of Life - Action/Adventure, every single week.

Selina

its very easy to argue that. Light has shown now that he enjoys killing people. What's stopping him from moving his definition of evil once he's done eliminating "evil" people. What if he begins killing people who get parking tickets? Hes already killed someone for "petty theft". A lot of people have done worse and have turned their lives around. Having one person in charge of deciding who is "evil" will always turn out bad. You think Light will ever think there are no more "evil' people in the world? c'mon now.

Omney

Love the dub! Especially if it helps you guys watch :)

Mireya Martinez

literally lmao the dub is good too

Mireya Martinez

Hi guys! Nice reaction as always ^^ What do you think of Chief Yagami's line : "what's truly evil is the power to kill" I understand it as "Having the power to kill will turn you evil" or you could say actually that "power will turn you evil"...what do you think about how this translate in real life? This is actually a theme that will come back in your anime journey

C R

It is around this time in watching the show that people lose sight of Light's side of the argument. It is still reasonable for him to protect himself so he can create a good world full of good people, protecting the innocent from evil. Whatever dastardly murders he's committed, it still makes sense for the greater good. It takes more than liking Naomi to argue against that.

Koala Banana

I 100% agree with Psycho Pass and Steins Gate!!!!

Aya

Oh, I suggested in the previous episode to make a poll to see who's on Team L and who's on Team Light. But you asked it just now 😆 A poll could still be fun, though? I am 100% Team Kira, from the very beginning. From the first time I started watching it. 😈 I suggest Steins Gate, Psycho-pass (season 1), Code Geass or Terror in Resonance to replace Death Note when you finish this anime. I'm guessing a lot of fans would like to watch Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood, Chainsaw Man, Jujutsu Kaisen, ... but I think you should replace Attack On Titan with one of those shows once you finish AOT. I personally think it will match the vibe of the anime you'll finish more. (But you'll have to watch all of them anyway 😂) Then you'll have a psychological anime, a sports/slice of life anime and an action/adventure anime every single week.

Selina

For me, I lean more towards supporting L. I believe that Light's character exposes his evil nature too quickly, to the point where he attempts to kill the innocent fake L in the episode 2 to eliminate an obstacle in his own plan.

OscarZero

I believe that L is not particularly concerned about the issue of whether the Kira wants to win or the fact that most people don't want to lose. Instead, it seems that he is attempting to provoke deeper thought or expose vulnerabilities in Light through various interactions. It could be a strategy to induce contemplation or trigger moments of anxiety. And until the end of this episode, after your discussion, I've also started to suspect that the heart attack incident involving Chief Yagami was a fabricated collaboration with L. They both seem to be attempting to provoke Light by discussing the evil nature of Kira, aiming to expose his vulnerabilities. This possibility cannot be ruled out.

OscarZero

agreed, although i do remember this being one of my very first anime and i watched it in dub, so, it may just be nostalgia speaking.

Kiyoshi Kenshin

I'm on team stalemate. So long as they both keep fighting to defeat each other I'm happy. If one of them wins, that stops 😅

Mike Rees

Personally the only anime I've enjoyed more dubbed is Baccano! where the dub is clearly trying to copy the aesthetic, and even then there are some characters I prefer in the Japanese dub. I dunno, I just find the majority of English language voice actors either choose to or are directed to be kitschy in their delivery. Maybe it's the same in Japanese, but without a native familiarity of the language I don't notice it.

Mike Rees

frrrr the “English dub 💔😭” comments are so funny cuz it rlly is not that serious

Sophia

Team Lawlight. Both of them teaming up and being fake-besties is so entertaining.

Hippopi

Keep it dub if it's what helps you!

Goatchis

Death Note dub is actually good, but I couldn't handle them watching AoT dubbed. Eren's English VA is so cringy.

Hippopi

Dude come on what is wrong with you suggesting boku no pico. They're new to anime, don't ruin the experience for them already.

Hippopi

I agree with you; it’s nothing special to see.

Precious Wah

It’s inappropriate to recommend that to two guys just trying to get the hang of anime. And I don’t think the guidelines would even allow it to be watched. Pleases don’t listen to this person.

Precious Wah

I mean… they obviously would not put that on youtube after seeing what that actually is 🤣🤣 Ahh, such a good show… I nearly ripped my eyes off while watching it 😍

BILLIE

Tbh I am not sure if up till this point I would be either team L or team Light, I know the most obvious answer would be L, in terms of morality, but we are not here to judge but rather to enjoy the show with our popcorns😅, so I would choose the team based on which character between the two seems more captivating and how much more they can surprise with their next moves...how much more they can do to accomplish their current goals So I am kinda rooting for both if it can makes sense to do that, I wanna see how far they can go (not me acting like I havent seen this anime before😂but you know what I mean) Though I would like to know which team are you guys on and why?

IfraH

On the topic of this becoming a psychological battle between them, you have to give it to L for being able to figure out what he has about Kira, given that he is going up against literal magic in the Death Note. You have to remember that all of the cases L has solved are Real world cases, not supernatural in nature. In my opinion this just shows how smart L is. Light has a huge advantage in this battle, and he has been checkmated multiple times. L is a Beast! In my opinion Light should be way more scared when confronting L face to face.

Omney

Samee! I think that Death Note does a good job with the dub. I feel like animes where there is a lot of deduction and detective work, in term of using brain and understanding things, it is better to use dub, especially if you aren't familiar with anime and subs in general

IfraH

This ep was truly amazing!!From now we are getting started with the crazy stuff, like it literally gets crazier and crazier each ep

IfraH

Jordan: team L or Team Light? The comments: sub or dub🤣 When watching anime, I prefer subtitles, but I am open to dub if it's preferred by Jared and Jordan.💜

Deemah

Do not.. and I repeat.. DO NOT watch Boku no Pico 😭

nizzy

Everything Dragon ball, i prefer watching Dubbed as well. I'm just saying there are more good dubs now than ever, especially with newer anime.

Omney

Yeah. There are very few anime where watching the dub is based. Death Note, FMA:B, Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo are ones off the top of my head

Silver

The background music is excellent. I was reminded of Gregorian Chants during the tennis match in particular. I’m team L all the way. This is a psychological game of chess and there can be only one master.

Cheryl Lambert

The death Note Dub is thought by a majority of fans to be really good. I personally enjoy it. I really don't understand all these other comments saying its not good. The Sub vs Dub debate is entirely dependent on the anime, Death Note is one where watching it dubbed is totally valid. For example there is an anime called 'cowboy bebop', where it is universally accepted that watching it dubbed is the way to watch the show. Again, it really depends on the anime, Death note is good dubbed. At the end of the day its up to how you guys want to watch it.

Omney

DO NOT try boku no pico on camera, it’s an ‘adult’ anime. It’s a common trick people do the new anime fans. Don’t even look it up tbh, you won’t be missing out on anything . The other suggestions this person made are good though Hahaha.

Marcus

There are a few shows that you may want to consider watching next: 1. Spy x Family 2. One punch man, 3. Jujutsu Kaisen, 4. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, 5. Ancient magus bride, 6. Naruto (of course) 7. Re:zero 8. ReLife 9. The promised neverland (looks like a nice tale for children but is actually really dark) Lastly, I think you guys should first and foremost react to "Boku no pico" without geting any info about it before watching. If you watch it, you will know why. I actually wonder how long can you guys last hahaha. The other shows that I recommended are seriously good tho.

BILLIE

Look at all these L/Light parallels, it's almost my favorite part of the series

Rhast

I'm happy about the dub, it's easier to watch along on phone during work, not saying that every dub is good, god knows it isn't, but this one is one of the good ones.

San Pav

i love the reacion, it feels like im watching Death Note for the first time again back in highschool haha, its masterfully written, the best cat and mouse game ive ever seen. But i have a question thats related to death note, but not about the plot. What do yall think about the music!? The music for death note has gotten really popular and is still used today in memes etc.
